Yeah the graphics are about equal really.
360 has Halo. There is no PS game that can beat multilayer halo really. It's also getting Mass Effect very soon which, if you're like me and are a fan of Bioware and RPGs, will be awesome. The game base for 360 certainly is larger at the moment, and it will take a while for the PS3 to catch up but there's nothing stopping it doing so. It really depends on what games you like at the moment, as that is all that differentiates the two systems, IMO. There is still no preferred format of Blu ray or HDDVD so both are equally viable formats. 360 connects seamlessly with any windows pc that has XP or above which is a bonus, as it can be used as a pretty comprehensive media extender. I'm not too sure on how the PS3 compares in that respect. -------------------- Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day. i sold 360 and bought ps3. because 360 freezes a lot. and ps3 doesn't. That was probably the hardware issue that's with 360's. Don't know what breaks but a lot of people seem to have it, I got the freezing screen too and MS had UPS pick mine up at my door step and sent it for repair though I got a new one in return. This may sound silly since it broke and I should perhaps be an unsatisfied customer but I'm very happy with the way MS treated the whole deal. No questions asked and repair at no cost. Well, I wouldn't accept to have it any other way I just assume Sony or anyone else would handle it so smooth. Then which is better, I don't know, they probably match eachother pretty well. 360 has been out for a while, PS3 will soon have the better games, MS will release a new 360 before the next PS4 and in a while be on top. So that part will just shift, if someone wants whats best today just be active and change between the two, like peterorg54, when whichever is on top. I'm also planning on using the PS3 as a media center - you can get some nifty software called TVersity that runs on a PC and acts as a media server for lots of devices, 360 and Ps3 included, so you don't need to wait for XBMC .. worth a look anyway, I haven't tried it with a PS3 yet though.

On another note, the Xbox online service is only like 50 bucks, and it is way better than the PS3's. Anthother thing is- in most games that come out for both the 360 and PS3, the framerate in the PS3 version is worse. Here's an example of one of the worst ones that they have put out:

I'd go for the 360 purely because it has and will have more games to play with than the PS3. The major reason is that many developers are holding back on thePS3 because developing games on the new system is so awkward and extremely complex.
Innovation is nice and all, but if it makes you cry just to try and develop a decent game for it then perhaps it went a bit too far. I used to be a Playstation fan, but the PS3 is the first in the series that I will not be buying. On a side note, of course there are those who think learning the new skills required is no other than what a developer had to go through working on the Xbox 360. Thanks for the TVersity Andrew. I just read the FAQ and it sounds really interesting. I'm downloading it now for a testdrive. To bad it doesn't come for linux yet. Not time for PS3 or Xbox360 yet though. Yeah if it ran on linux that would be a killer app - MythTV is a linux alterntive - good but very fiddly to install. I had it running with an XBox frontend. It was pretty good as a media viewer but not quite so good as a PVR, mainly because the set top box intergration sucked. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
