Hey guys!
I need your opinion on something
Aria is another project of mine, where it seems that at the moment I am taking care of the vocals as well
This is what me and the other guitarist have recorded vocal wise over a song called Meta( morphosys ) this is an intermediary mix so, there's still a lot of work to do.
The thing is, that I am not very comfy with my voice so, I was curious to hear your opinions about it go easy on me mates
You're kiddin right?
That's a pretty solid vocal take
That's really good man. Multi-talented
So...
when is the full length album coming ?
I would buy it.
Cosmin my friend! wow i must say , very nice, i like the guturals.
The clean voice is also good, there is something ,you know, "strange", but i do not realized what it its. maybe some kind of "a bit too much nasal sound" but i am not sure.
I would try to change the harmony of the vocals and see what happens, for instance, I´d add to the chorus in the part when it says "Whenever...." it's the high pich of the voice so i'd do a 3 rd down to give more you know "body" "contour" (I feel like in that part the voice becomes to "thin") i hope you get the idea. and of course take out the previous hamonized voice otherwise it will be too much voices.
I reeeeaaally understand that you are not comfortable or confident at all with your voice, it happens to all the singers i guess, listen to yourself is very complicated and some time frustrating. But this is not the case man, the vocals are great so congrats!
this is me singing:
(I know i am doing it wrong, this is 3 years old, now i am trying to change my way of singing)
your voice reminds of a Metal Paul Gilbert specially at the beginning, but then it change to something like Rise Against mixing something like All that Remains, i like it
That's great man! I like your voice! I also can hear some Gilbert in your clean vocals... and the screaming is awesome! Congrats!
Reminds me of All That Remains xD
Hey Cosmin that sounds great and it doesn't sound like you at all (normally you can match the singing voive with a spoken voice but not in this case)
In addition to what El Fortinero was saying about the higher notes, I read somewhere that it's good practice to aim for vocal melodies that you could actually do live.. (I'm not saying you couldn't because maybe you could)..too often vocalists push themselves in the studio to doing things that they wouldn't naturally go to, so that might be worth considering as well.. next time you approach vocal melodies think 'How would I do this if I were playing it live with a guitar hung around me too ?'
Thanx guys!! @ Ben - my problem is not the vocal technique itself, but the fact that I have to play the guitar in the same time and I have a lot of difficult parts where the guitar does rhythmically, a lot of things which are all but easy for the voice to perform over...That's my main fear actually..
I actually really liked it! As Ben said, it didn't sound a lot like you. I gotta say that you can sing high! That's high for me. My voice starts cracking if I try that kind of thing. I hate my singing voice. Yours sounded so professional. Mine sounds .... we won't even go there
Great job! Keep us posted! I wanna buy the EP too!!!
Brandon
Haha wow Cosmin - you are mutli talented indeed!
This was a very pleasant surprise - your singing rocks!
IN my opinion there is nothing odd with your singing at all. When you reach a certain level possible "fixes" are only a matter of taste - since singing to me is not about perfection but quite the opposite: making use of your imperfections (hehe no coincidence this comes from me, huh?)
Of course you could improve pitch on some places, add more power/diaphragm etc. But would it make the song better - I dont know...
Then you could get more input from life in general and add a different vocal feeling/theme in your next song - will it better? Who knows.
This was a very cool tune and performance, well done! And do you do the scream yourself as well? I have never quite gotten into that..
hey guys!
My band Voodoo, will release its first album next month on the 29th! As a sneak preview, I decided to let you in on the raw guitar takes! I used a Mesa Boogie Road King head and the PRS Paul Allender for all the tracks! Note that this is not mixed or anything let me know if you like it!
The first song was featured in a previous v-chat session where I had a guest in the person of my awesome drummer with his djembe!

The second one is super heavy and I love its sound - it kinda takes me towards Killswitch Engage somehow or maybe it's just me
