The zendrum rocks. it's never going to replace the guitar. it's not ment to. it's a MIDI drum controller. If anything it would replace the drumms.
If you go to the zendrum website you will see that they were originally developed to get a drummer up and moving. so they can move to the front of the stage with the singer. I'm all for it. plus since it's midi all you would need to lug around is a laptop and the zendrum. No need to lug around a whole drum set and a bunch of mics. The only thing i dont like about the zendrum is how much it costs. They are like $1000 to $2000 depending on the model and the wood you get. I just bought something similar to the zendrum. In studio it is very difficult to replace the drummer. On stage it is fairly easy imo.

I don't really see the zen drummer as ever totally replacing a drum set. There are subtleties to drums that midi controllers have a hard time emulating. such as the variety of different ways you can hit a cymbal. But there are things that midi controllers can do that drums cant. such as playing sounds that you can't get on a drum set.
