What are some easy licks I could learn in a few days to improvise over a twelve bar blues progression? Nothing too fast but I don't mind stretching my fingers a bit. Also how do I know what licks to use and where they should go?

In order to know how to fit licks in your chord progression or backing track, you need to know which key you're in, and also you need to know scales. Minor pentatonic and minor scale will serve you for now.
