What Do You Play?

What kind of music do you play that allows you to practice things like pentatonic scales (which is the first thing I've started learning since joining GMC)?

I am obviously no where close to being able to shred so stuff like Yngwie and lots of other stuff at that level is way above my level.

What recommendations would you make to a beginner as per music I could start learning that would reinforce the stuff I am learning from GMC? At least, without having to slow down some shreddie's song and practice it for 3 years before I could play it.

I can pick up any type of music that I like to play and learn it, but I'd like to start learning stuff that is do able for me and would allow me to use pentatonics.
