The video sounded very accurate to my setup (used with humbuckers+a processor).

Pretty amazing, with the same setting (again similar to the video) it sound great alone+takes a boost very well+can boost a dist. pedal without too much noise and I tried these scenarios while playing over a backing track (so it doesn't disapper inside a mix). Also being affordable, I honestly can't ask an od pedal to be more capable smile.gif

Its a fulltone OCD clone but has a rounder high-end, a plus for me as I intend to use it with a clean amp and the OCD to my ears can be harsh.

If one is confused by the saturated OD pedal market, this is a very safe option for getting into pedals.

Honeymoon is over...and I'm liking it even more biggrin.gif

I ran my boosted mt-2 through it and it almost didn't get muffled! not many OD pedals can do this...also tone set high and drive lowest, its a cool sweetener, really cures if any setup sounds "digital". I might check the hottubes and crayon for such application too (as I don't want to buy a second same pedal, wouldn't regret it if I had to though biggrin.gif )

So it doesn't have more gain/breakup than a tubescreamer but definitly something plexi-ish is going on. Cool pedal to sit between or at the end of already existing od and dist. pedal.

seems like a cool pedal. do you have any demo's? it would be interesting to hear the kind of tones you use.

Here is a quicky smile.gif pedals going to processor (processor to soundcard) which has no amp sim. but a cab. sim., eq'ing and slight delay/reverb so I'd say the pedal is brutally there.

All in neck PU, first is clean example. Then the glove with gain set near 1, both chord and lick. Then I engaged my cleanbooster before the Glove and finally cleanbooster off/metalzone on (glove bosting metalzone).

Thanks and yeah even with that uber-presence it still have some musicality left smile.gif

I'm expecting better results when I get my tubescreamer back from a friend which should boost the glove smoother. Also thinking about getting a distortion (placed before Glove) to get a drive sound between the boosted mt-2 and boosted glove. Hopefully then I'll be satisfied with my drive spectrum options and focus on other guitar related gear smile.gif

Congrats! sounds like you ripped a channel out of an old NEVE console!! should come in handy!!

Thanks! smile.gif

Yeah it gets fuzzy feel when pushed high. The range is good between extremely low (almost clean amp-like) to mid-gain as the fuzzyness can't be felt much in these areas. After I get my TS9, I'm confident will find a sweetspot between the two for low-to-mid. gain.

I'll admit having a relatively unfamiliar tone in my hands does help musicianship, when jamming I find myself finding fresh lick ideas more often. I hope this won't be an addiction as I don't want to be one of those guys who can't find space in his house for pedals biggrin.gif

I was that guy for a while!! smile.gif I had a HUGE pedal addiction at one point. But i finally weaned myself off of it when I got the GNX3, years ago. Then I got in to plugins smile.gif

I still appreciate pedals though. I really dig the XTOMP that I've been messing with as it can be nearly any pedal under the sun and can be two pedals at once as well. It's got really nice DSP. IT has no lcd display, just knobs, so it feels like a 'Pedal", not like a processor which I kinda dig smile.gif

One step further and Hotone had invented the "Kemper" for Pedals? Imagine users profiling pedals and sharing it all over?@?@? or maybe Kemper can already profile a Pedal?

Posted by: Todd Simpson Feb 4 2017, 04:05 AM

that would be spiff smile.gif The kemper stomp!!! All it would need to do is load profiles. So it could be small as it wouldn't need the profiler, just the loader. Could run off a phone app so it wouldnt' even need knobs. KEMPER PEDAL!!!! Could take updates/profiles via phone app too. Ideally via blutooth.

Wrote a review on another forum, sharing it here;

My review;

I use it on the clean channel, it prefers open+sweet sounding fendery tones with preferably not an edgy sound. The switch and tone helps with darker amps but then the fuzzy element of the sound get too apparent (which can also be preferred by some).

9v mode; Lower headroom compared to OD's I tried on regular 9v, but one's who prefer picking relaxed would really enjoy it. The official video is in 9v mode, the gain range from the volume pot really is insane. The guitar pretty much doesn't need a treble bleed, its that good. Cause of the low headroom, using it as a boost your fingers will fly around the fretboard but the cost is since it doesn't bleed the clean sound you might feel its taking over your amps feel a bit too much (depending on the pedals gain knob position). The breakup might sound too loose for some specially with humbuckers.

18v mode; The more vintage sound area, here you get the buzzy sounds from vintage amps but of course its not the same thing still great feel though, the headroom increases a lot and one really wants to dig in with the pick. The breakup is really tight and the pick control of tone is a joy. It gets darker quicker when the volume is rolled down (or atleast feels like it) so using a mild boost before it made more sense to me.

I read many enjoyed but I didn't like my ts9 as a boost for it, infact sold it. But a clean boost with slightly rolled off highs works great with the glove (just like with the official video with the crayon), my guess is cause of the fuzz element in the sound it likes some bass before it. The volume pot with a clean booster is much more effective at 18v mode.

After experimentation period, I set it up just almost like the official crayon video with a clean boost (the clean boost its pushing its gain to around 1 o'clock). I guess personally I'm a (mild breakup) distortion guy with its gain knob passed 1-2 o'clock. After that (probably cause I'm not a fuzz user) the fuzzyness gets more apparent depending on the amps eq setting you use, which is also a great sound but just not my thing.

As I feel confident with it, I'm happy I bought it. Wanted low gain sweet tones on a clean amp and got exactly what I hoped for. As it doesn't cut much bass like a tubescreamer and having plexi-like drive, it can be a great alternative before the soundcard/processor for those who are into software amps. If not for the tone, the feel on 9v mode will be closer to using a real amp.

This type of tone?

Yeah, that and any element that thickens the tone is cool (humbuckers, eq on amp, warmer cab. ...). Seems it's the mid. on high-gain/modern amps clean tone mid-high area that it dislikes.

Also an info, I have a friend who has a Mesa mark V+JCM2000+a Fender hotrod with a different cab. . Aside a ds1 (best with marshall) and maybe a ts9, my personal conclusion is the Fender is the best pedal platform among them and likely most pedal companys use them (or their overall tone balance with other amps/cab.s) as referance when designing.

About a year ago I also asked a Tech 21 engineer and he sort of confirmed Fender type amp balance is best for plexi-ish tones.

The Fender Twin is a Classic for a very good reason smile.gif It's a great amp! Also, it's hyper clean so you get out what you put in, in terms of pedals. smile.gif

Almost like using a neutral full range speaker cab with an axe fx, the tone is mostly the axe fx, not the cab.
