Hello everyone, just a bit about me. Fairly advanved player, however, I want to get started with arpeggios and sweep arpeggios and i'm not sure where to start. Diatonic chord scales? Major- Minor-Dominant?? I was looking for good starter lessons here. I have a good right hand but I am looking for some direction. Hope someone can help. thanks. Gerry

Hi friend! Welcome to the forum! In my last Video Chat lesson I started covering Sweep Picking Technique. In this thread: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=42832, you will find the lesson notes for the class number 8, that is based on 2 strings sweeps. This is for me the best way yo start with this technique. Let me know if you need help with the exercises.

Hi Gerry, welcome to GMC

If it's sweeps your interested in then you may as well get straight to the point and pick some sweep lessons to work on, to get the technique happening. I would worry about the tonalities later.

You'll find a lot of sweeps rely on particular Minor / Major chordal shapes which you will encounter again and again whatever key you're in so that's always a good place to start.

I would also recommend starting with sweeps that use 5 or all 6 strings because it's easier to get the sweeping motion learned. If you're doing smaller 3 string sweeps then you keep having to change direction and it can be harder to develop the correct sweeping action because you're not getting enough of it in one go.

I would type 'sweep' in the search bar, look through the list and pick something which appeals to you

Hi there and welcome to GMC! I would agree with the guys in all this. Begin to study the right hand picking when performing sweeps. Sure,you will start with a simple major and minor chords, and latter you'll move on to more complex exercises.Happy practicing, and we are here to give you proper guidance during your workout.

Welcome to GMC! YOU ARE GONNA LOVE IT! Todd here, I"m our Saturday Video Chat instructor and I'd love to have you stop by! We work a lot on alternate picking and speed mechanics and lately "Tripeggios" which are sort of "Starter Sweeps" basically triads played as a sweeping lick. It's like a sweep just using a couple of strings and a simple shape. Hopefully it will start training your hand in the mechanics of sweeping and you can add 3, 4, 5, 6 string sweeps in

I would start with a major scale first
If we will harmonize G major scale for example we will get
G maj- Ami -Bmi - Cmaj - D maj- Emi- F#dim
So you can start practicing those arpeggios and try to connect them with each other
Here is the example!! Use sweep technique for all of them!
