i think the dimarzio super distortion s would fit your needs pretty well...
its a humbucker in the size of a single, You can find it here i never tried it, so i can't tell you if its good or not, but i simply let you know that it may be your bridge pickup of choice ... and i dont know why the bridge pickup is angled on strats -------------------- My gears are:

Dimarzio Tone Zone S or Super Distortion will do the trick nicely. They compensate slanted strat bridge position

why is the bridge pickup on strats on an angle? It adds more bass to lower notes and brightens up higher notes -------------------- |

Real single coils are definitely no metal pickups, but as the others already said, there are some humbuckers in the single coil format, so you can replace the pickup without having to work on the guitars body. I have to say that I never tried any of those pickups since all my guitars always had humbuckers in the bridge position anway, but the super distortion is not a bad pickup, so if this one is available in single coil format this might be a good choice.
