Hey everyone,

I was practicing some solos this morning and enjoying my Suhr Shiba Drive pedal - I really like using it to boost my overdrive channel when I play lead parts.

Do you guys use this kind of overdrive pedal for a similar purpose? I believe that not everyone has a solo channel or switch on their amp tongue.gif so,
in other words - how do you guys make your tone shine when playing lead?

I currently use a tube screamer - but I have been looking at a fulltune OCD and mad professor overdrive... We'll see what I'll go for! =)

Your suhr pedal sure looks interesting - I googled it the first time you mentioned it!

OCD Fulltone does the work for me. Although I use the tone knob to make it shine, not so much the pedal.

I've set my Switchblade to have a solo setting that's a copy of the rhythm setting but with slightly more volume and more of a mids peak on the eq.

EDIT: Hence that's just an equalizer for boost then

I'm using the booster channel on my fulltone GT-500, or the booster on my fulltone full-drive 2 and if I want to get a specific boost I sometimes use my Fuzztool or Trebletool to achieve it.

Oh yeah and cosmin, since you use suhr pedals, have you played a suhr guitar before? If yes, how was the one you tried? The neck, tone, build....

I have recently got a Super Booster pedal by Markbass (for my bass setup). It provides me with a really clean gain boost which is useful for "solo parts" and sometimes heavy slap sections that need to come out loud. I got the pedal because it has a high quality DI out on the side as well as special filters section straight from markbass amps (Vintage loudspeaker emulation and Variable Pre-shape Filter used for scooping the mids).

I'm starting to be a fan of their products! smile.gif

I either use my solo button on my Boss ME 20, or my tube screamer ts9.

I've been using a Digitech Bad Monkey, which is in the signal chain after a Bad Horsie Wah. If nobody knew I was talking guitar gear they would think I'm some sort of pet psychologist. The Bad Monkey replaces a Boss SD-1, I feel like the Bad Monkey is smoother and isn't as harsh. Plus it has high and low adjustments, which isn't on the SD-1. Theres a Tube Screamer TS-808 clone kit sitting under my desk waiting to be built, maybe I'll get around to it this summer and let you guys know what I think of it.

I used SD1 as well, it's a great booster that goes along nicely with any amp I've plugged into, works well with tube amps.

However, it does cut some low end. Tube screamer is better in this area.

I keep my amp clean all the time, since I get my dirty tones from the HT-dual. The cool thing there, is that I can set a crunchy tone on channel 1, and then boost the gain or/and volume on channel 2, to get a real searing lead tone! biggrin.gif
If I am already playing something on channel 2, which has to be metal, I can engage my Echolution delay pedal, which have a drive knob. This way, I can achieve both a richer sound, as well as raising the volume and cutting through the mix.

In backup, I also have a Digitech Tube overdrive, but when engaged over the HT-Dual, it cuts through a bit too much tongue.gif
