Thinking all the namm shows I watched in the past, Carvin and PRS has the best looking to woods smile.gif

There are quite few where I live and I never got to play one. A friend of mine had one before we met and as I understand they are very shred ready guitars smile.gif

Is that the Holdsworth design? Friend of mine sells (or sold now they have stopped having dealers) Carvins and I've seen some stunning examples.

I think the Holdsworth is a single cut away but these are similar. I hope I run across one smile.gif

Played a carvin recently and it was a very nice guitar, all custom made to the guys specs.
They feel and sound great.
There's something about not having a headstock on that model though. Seems weird to me. Like its to small or something.

Yes I have wanted one for a long time. But this is the type of guitar that can be very tricky to get a hold of here in sweden, since they're all custom made in the US.

I do have a headless steinberger guitar though, and it is quite special - mainly because of how its balanced. For me it doesn't work well for playing styles that involve aggressive strumming or picking - it's like the whole instrument jumps around in my hands.

For the soft, Holdworth type of legato technique, it feels perfect though. He (Holdsworth) also argues the sound of a headless guitar is different.

PIX of your Steinberger!! smile.gif Holdsworth has a custom signature carving of course, one of the new ones. Sort of a Steinberger/Tele?

I have never had a Carvin personally but a friend of mine did way back in the 80's that I played a few times. It was a beautiful guitar, played and sounded great too. I have always thought they had some amazing looking wood and finish and were of good quality.

A little off topic since it is not headless, but Greg Howe has a signature Carvin now I just found out today, Also a DV Mark signature amp.
He recently put up a demo. Skip ahead to 7:30 if you want to get right to the part about the Carvin.

I like his amp as well!! Those DVMARK amps always have impressed me with their tone. Yet another amp that makes me want a KEMPER smile.gif

For those who like a more "tradition" guitar shape, here is a Carvin with the crazy boutique, but without the headless/etc.

Really curious to see how these play. They are pushing their custom shop big time. I hope the necks are thin!
