never played a guitar with 25 frets, hahahaha. i prefer fixed bridges, simply because trems are a big hassal, and i'm not that interesting in dive bombing etc anyway. the RG series has no prestige fixed bridge, you'd want to look at the RGA prestige for that.

The Flating bridge is great even if you dont use the trem bar, because your strings saty in tune longer, the only time i tune mine is when i change the strings.

If you like playing with a lot of harmonics, a tremolo is nice to have. The locking nut does keep it in tune for ages if you don't use the tremolo. Changing strings is a huge PITA on a floating trem tho... I don't know which necks are on the guitars you're looking at , but go for the 5 pc wizard instead of the 3 piece. I just got my 3pc neck in my s470 back from the luthier for set up/pups installed and it felt like playing on a LP or strat or something after only playing on the 5 pc neck. The RG550 XX (20th reissue) is what I've got, and I highly recommend it (plus comes with a case, technically it's a "prestige" guitar as well)

I don't even look at guitars without tremolos....it's a must have, in my opinion.

isn't a tremolo variation in volume rather than pitch though? any reason why it isn't called a vibrato bar? that would make more sense...

Fine, then call it a Whammy bar!

I agree with Pavel, I typically only look for guitars with a FR variant. I have one fixed bridge simply for alternate tunings since those are painful with tremolos.
