Long story short...the luthier that looked at it couldn't believe how screwy the neck was. The action was "unacceptably high" (his words), and the low E string was STILL buzzing all the way up to the 18th fret! He tried to adjust it out with the truss rod, but he could never square it away. He said the neck was shot! They let me do an in-store exchange which saved me time and hassle about shipping it back to California. I picked up a barely used, but in perfect condition Fender Showmaster Strat. It has Seymour Duncan pickups and plays beautifully! I can't believe how low the action is on it. I was surprised how well of a metal tone I was able to get with the S-S-S pickup setup! It was $50 more, so it came to $400. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for all the advice and help I received!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't take this thread as a statement about Ibanez. I still love their guitars, I truely believe I just got a lemon in the bunch!

You only paid 400 for that strat? You did really well, man! It looks like it's itching for a Floyd. Beautiful top...

Thanks man! My buddy said the same thing about a Floyd Rose...but I don't even use the tremolo that's on it now!

You will if you put a Floyd on it. Strat vibratos are pretty useless; won't stay in tune. Put a Floyd on yours, and you'll have a total of less than 700 dollars in it, installed, (I'm including the price of the guitar). Your strat is special, with the nice top...soup it up! Just my opinion, man...
