Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Metalcore Chops #2 by Darius Wave

Hi guys, Darek's team it's ready to showing you their metal side biggrin.gif We put an incredible work behind but the result it's a huge success for us and we are very proud about it.
BTW sorry my serious face but I caught a cold and I have fever.

Darek, I still can't believe what huge progress we succeeded this time. You are an absolutely killer instructor!!! Thank you so much for everything.

I want to mention two things:
1- I played this lesson in normal tuning. So, thanks a million to Darek who transposed the backing track for me smile.gif
2- The solo part it's not played on neck pickups as in lesson but this with Darek's approval. My single coil not works ok on this lesson and that's why we decided to choose the best option.

Very cool Monica!

Technically you execute this with machine-like precision. The only detail I reacted on was the inro - the first slow scalar playing - where you did not have the the same attack and timing precision as the coming (tricky) stuff. The notes sounded a bit muffled. I think this is quite common phenomenon, as we tend to focus on the trickier passages, and you nailed those.

The only big thing to improve here is your vibrato, which feels a bit narrow and uneven (think Kirk Hammet). And this does affect the listening experience. I don't think you are very far from nailing it though, but again I think your main focus was on nailing the highly technical passages.

Very well done - you get an 8 from me. It's amazing to see your progress! ph34r.gif wub.gif

Hi Monica.

It's amazing to see how you keep on progressing as a guitarist. You teach everybody here that everything is possible with discipline and hard work.

Your playing is killer in this take. You can play all the riffs and rhythms with precision and everything sounds clean and clear.

I only think that being a bit more relaxed and letting your body and head going more with the groove could give your playing more dynamics, expression and attitude. I would add some more Gilbert type attitude into your playing. Let me know if you don't get what I mean.

Congrats Moni, you are becoming a killer guitaist. Keep going!!
