I here EMGs use batteries.. this sounds like it would be a bit of a pain if they have to be replaced ofter.. does anyone know how long the EMG's batteries last? I think one EMG81/85 would last 3000h. (suggesting you don't run with the puckup selector on both pickups) EDIT: Also depends on the battery, a 9V spans somewhere between 170 up to over 300 mAh where the 300mAh would last almost twice as long. I think they must have calculated the 3000h on a common battery, 230 mAh or whatever. -------------------- My bands homepage

I've had my Jackson SLSMG for over 2 years now, and i've only had to change the battery once.
And that procedure took me a whole 20 seconds A really good idea is to always remember to unplug the guitar when not in use. There's a batterly-lid on guitars that come with EMG's. If you upgrade your guitar later then you will most likely manage to fit the battery in the component/wiring hole in your guitar. -------------------- Guitars: Schecter Stiletto Classic, Jackson SLSMG, Ibanez RG-380 Japan, Gibson Les Paul Studio

Like everyone already said, they will last long as long as you keep the guitar cable unplugged when the guitar is not in use.
