I here EMGs use batteries.. this sounds like it would be a bit of a pain if they have to be replaced ofter..
does anyone know how long the EMG's batteries last?

I think one EMG81/85 would last 3000h. (suggesting you don't run with the puckup selector on both pickups)

EDIT:
Also depends on the battery, a 9V spans somewhere between 170 up to over 300 mAh where the 300mAh would last almost twice as long. I think they must have calculated the 3000h on a common battery, 230 mAh or whatever.

Micke is pretty close here. Also to add, the life will be shortened if you keep your guitar plugged in. Models equipped with emg's from the mfg usually have a "battery box" that makes it easier to access.

There is no need to worry about constant battery changes^^

The 9V battery is usually in an easy-to-acces battery compartment if the guitar comes with EMG from the factory; if they are fitted afterwards the battery is usually in rubberfoam in the back of the guitar between the switches and knobs...

A guitar fitted with emgs will last at least a year of constant playing, just make sure not to leave the guitar cable pluged in when not playing, it drains the battery! I have had a Les Paul with EMGs and the battery lasted almost two years of daily playing!

I've had my Jackson SLSMG for over 2 years now, and i've only had to change the battery once.
And that procedure took me a whole 20 seconds smile.gif

A really good idea is to always remember to unplug the guitar when not in use.

There's a batterly-lid on guitars that come with EMG's. If you upgrade your guitar later then you will most likely manage to fit the battery in the component/wiring hole in your guitar.

yeah. I also have EMG 81 on the brigde, and about the battery, it´s too easy to replace it.

I replace it around 3-4 months ´cause I play many times live. and I really like to stay comfortable with my guitar. I hate to feel those noisy bends when the battery is not full-charged.

Like everyone already said, they will last long as long as you keep the guitar cable unplugged when the guitar is not in use.
