I think its in B.

Thats what I hear from playing minor pentatonic to it.

I'm not submitting myself for this one btw, would love too, but too much on my plate already, gotta touch up my metal soloing already for the other collab, anyways I think all spaces have run out, great backing though tongue.gif

The key is in B minor..
The chords are B minor, G, E min, B minor

B aeolian and B minor pentatonic blues are the prfect scales here...
But you can try to explore different arpeggios too...

It's easy, you download the backing track provided, record your solo over it and then post your solo here on the forum...
All the spots are taken now, but I'll make an exception and add you to the list if that's what you decide...

Yeah just jam along to the track using the scales that are recommended and record your best attempt (well thats what I do anyway) have a look at some of the completed ones on the main collaborations board they are really cool especially the GMC video!
Hope this helps

Posted by: Smells Nov 19 2007, 07:14 AM

Hi David,

hope this is ok, if not I`ll do it again

Hey the new guy has a question! Is the goal of this particular thread to see how close to Gilmour you can play...or is it using a cool backing track to run up and down the fretboard???

Thanks!

Posted by: JVM Nov 19 2007, 02:31 PM

Trying to sound like gilmour, mostly. Most of the collaborations are to try to sound like a particular thing, for example to try to "sound" lydian, or at least get the idea of how playing in the lydian scale is for that particular collaboration.

Posted by: krawetz Nov 19 2007, 08:24 AM

damn i love gilmour i would have loved to get in on this

Posted by: Muris Nov 19 2007, 10:10 AM

Yeah,I believe the goal is to sound like Gilmour but you may do few runs if you like tho. biggrin.gif

Posted by: jean-mi Nov 19 2007, 06:24 PM

hey, interresting contributions my friends,

in order to try to sound in the style of.... i prepare my collaboration tooo unsure.gif
and personnaly, I would like to try to sound more like gilmour play biggrin.gif wink.gif if possible tongue.gif

Just a question, because this is my first participation here.

The backtrack piece lasts 30 seconds. Does the collaboration hit over only this duration or over one minute ? (because I saw all collabs of a length of one minute or more).
Walli, do you get collabs of one minute or a half ?

Posted by: Wallimann Nov 19 2007, 06:32 PM

Hey jean-mi!
I updated the backing track.. It's twice as long now...
Download it again!
Also, everyone, check my new edited opening post.
I decided to add 5 more openings!!!

Hey TJ, I think it's great. The only thing I could say is to a) allow for more "space", not having to constantly play notes, I forget the word for it right now but anyway. It also seemed to me that the first half or so of it was mostly in and around the same area of the fret board, try to move around a little maybe? Some octave stuff perhaps, I find that fun to play with.

But really, I only say that because you asked. I think your playing and everything was better than mine so take it as you will smile.gif

Yeah, I felt the same way after I was listening to it..

It was just an improvisation, should have taken more time with it, I cant relax when I record mellow.gif .

But yeah, I noticed that It was a little bit to much constant notes.

I only really learned the first two boxes in minor scale so.. I need to do alot of work.

Dude thanks so much for the advice, and don't say your playing was not as good, I thought it was great!

But I live off of criticism.. so thanks smile.gif

Guys, this was absolutely brilliant to listen to! I have so far to go before I reach this sort of level sad.gif

One thing I found that was when listening to the final post it's hard to work out which piece is by who... I wonder if there is a way to simplify that (maybe a quick post with the starting time for each contribution would help?).

Another thing that would be cool would be tabs from each submission. A bit of work there though sad.gif

I read while I`m listening to them, they are in the order of the takes, and its easy to tell the different changes coz the tones are all different along with styles etc.

def a lot of work involved for the tabbing out, although I know some (Leedbreak for sure) already do that for there own reference. biggrin.gif

Here's a tab of mine if anyone wants, it's pretty simple so good for any beginners perhaps? Part by part:

There's some scratching and a few basic phrasing things I try to use throughout, but they're minimal and few, so you should be able to get them from listening, or just skip em if you want smile.gif
