I'm one of those guitarists who play play rhythm well, and I know the theory and patterns of scales, but am in the period of learning how to make it sound like music and not scales I thought it would be cool if us members could have a section where there is a set chord progression that we could solo over and upload for other members to pull ideas from, and help out others.

Here's the catch, lets say you'd have to only use the Ionian scale to solo over, or for another one you could say pentatonic only, or mixolydian, etc, as long as we all stayed somewhat within the guidelines of soloing and used the same chord progression, it would be fun!

Any thoughts?

Yeah it would be great if we all used the same backing track, but I have a question? Can someone who is knowledgable with recording explain how you could record yourself playing over the backing track and upload it as an mp3??

A lot of setups and options there
I typically burn the MP3 to a CD. Then I play the CD with a walkman plugged into my PA system. That way, I can play along with it, and the quality is good. I record with n-track studio on my PC. I feed the signal from "record out" on my PA system into my soundcard.
