New Original Idea

I was going for the Stone Sour feel, so this would be my take on something like that - maybe a James Root type of rhythm but with a little more groove in the verse? I have no idea how to mix/master, but this take is just for writing and comprehension purposes anyway. It's wide open for vocals (if I could only find a reliable singer). I have to say, your critique of my ideas a while back has pushed me to not settle on my initial ideas and to keep them evolving until they have more dynamics. I compare my skills against others, and me not knowing theory, not being able to improvise and having to practice for hours to do things that I watch others just whip out like it's nothing, lets me know I have a LONG way to go. For instance - the fast notes in the solo to this song, are the absolute pinnacle of my ability. A while back I had asked you if you had ever heard of someone maxing out their speed - this solo is the reason why I asked that. And to get this recording down, I had to do that part of the lead probably 10 to 15 times and punch it in to find a clean take. When I am practicing that song live, I do that part utilizing hammer-ons and pull-offs, because my right hand is not yet synced with my left at that speed, unless I just loop the section and play it over and over and over. So, I'm very aware of my weaknesses, and I think that is where my lack of confidence comes from. When I started playing live, I was not a drinker, so my hands would shake just plugging my instrument in. I remember doing shows and being too afraid to move for fear of missing a note. Then, I found liquid courage - and I was like a game show host on stage - NO FEAR whatsoever. I never got trashed, but had just enough to take away the fear and make me loose. I realized that it was okay to mess up, to expect it, and nobody but me knew it anyway - that the part I needed to focus on was the "recovery" after the screw up. Anyway, once I started taking a few shots of Jagermeister before a show, there was no better place to be than on-stage playing originals. Now, however, I am a non-drinker again, but I'm not near as nervous as I used to be, although, not near as loose and confident as I was with a good belt of whiskey either.
