Good luck Muris. Hope you're having a great time in the capital

Posted by: seagull Jun 14 2008, 02:46 PM

This must so be a dream come true. Who would've thought that a power shredder from Serbia, with some of the worst odds ever of getting "out there" (Visa) would achieve something like this.

Nothing short of MAGNIFICENT, and a testament to one of the goods the internet has brought upon the world.
Best of luck bro - although you don't even need it. smile.gif

Posted by: Smikey2006 Jun 14 2008, 02:48 PM

Yeah, on the GuitarIdol forums.

It says that GG won.

but it might just be a fan of his starting a rumor...

Posted by: skennington Jun 14 2008, 04:28 PM

Someone also saying Lyle Watt took second. Who know's? I think all 12 are winners with Muris being the top dog!

Posted by: Nick325 Jun 14 2008, 04:49 PM

good luck muris

good luck! wink.gif

Posted by: FrankW Jun 14 2008, 05:16 PM

Muris, whether you take first place or not doesn't matter. You're getting the exposure you deserve. You are networking with the other top players on the planet, and the judges, who are top professionals, will see you for who you are. You've won either way! It's all about the exposure. Once you made it to the top ten, you won big!

Posted by: Smells Jun 14 2008, 07:12 PM

Hi Guys!!! well I have just returned home from the London Guitar show, and spending some great time with Muris!

As you`ve already heard, unfortunatly Muris did not win the competition, as someone mentioned earlier Gustavo Guerra won, Muris did himself proud of course (as we knew he would) there was a rather major mishap with the drummer playing his backing track mad.gif which possibly didnt help Muris out too much, but like the true pro Muris is he continued through regardless.

having just got home I`m desperate for something to eat so as soon as I`ve eaten I will edit the video`s for you guys, I have Muris`s competition performance, some Paul Gilbert footage (awesome btw!) and Muris playing at the Licklibrary stand (awesome again biggrin.gif) lots of pics, and Bondy has lots of pics too to post, I shant keep you waiting too long smile.gif

Posted by: Nick325 Jun 14 2008, 07:19 PM

o man well we all know how good muris is so we dont need them to tell us. cant wait to see those pics n videos

Can't wait for some footage, thanks Smells.... It sucks that Muris didn't win, he would have deserved it..... smile.gif

Posted by: Siggum Jun 14 2008, 07:31 PM

I knew it was gonna be a complicated piece to play live for the backing band, the more complex the piece the more things could go wrong, but im glad you had a great time there, looking forward to the vids and pics smile.gif

Posted by: chast Jun 14 2008, 07:44 PM

How did the final look like ?
Did everybody play his song he entered with ?
And was there also a 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. place ? If yes, who is it ? tongue.gif

Posted by: skennington Jun 14 2008, 07:47 PM

Thanks to you and Bondy . I'm sure you guys had a great time. Can't wait to see the footage!

Final was pretty cool, some great players for sure, they each played their competition entry, the competition over ran so they only announced first and second place, Lyle Watt as someone mentioned earlier took 2nd

Posted by: Kapto Jun 14 2008, 08:15 PM

I hope you had a wonderful time an experience in London Muris.
Needless to say you are the winner for us.
let us know if you came across Satriani or Gilbert and showed them a few guitar tricks laugh.gif
Keep rocking

Hey my friends!

This thread only proves how great this comunity is smile.gif

As you have heard already,
I had a major issues with bend, drummer actually.
Well perhaps it;s not because he's weak player
but we did show without rehearsal with the bend.
Tho band had a short rehearsal but without competitors,
not much from it I guess sad.gif

And at the reharsal on Friday I was thinking
to cancel the bend and go only with full backing track.
Somehow I changed my mind cause I wanted to include those guys,
every other competitor was fine with the band so didn't wanted to jump out.
But seems like a was wrong a bit cause my tune was surely the most complex
when it comes to rhythm section etc.
Anyhow, the odd grove 9/16 came in and they were out from the start.
Everything after that I did wihout listening to anything,
I just wanted to get it done cause we ruined it for sure. biggrin.gif

But right after that I had 2 performances at LickLibrary stand
and that was really fine, just a backing.

Plus I met Chris and Craig! biggrin.gif

Sorry that you didn't win mate, particularly for this reason. In a way it confirms my theory that drummers can't count rolleyes.gif . (Ducks and runs away from any drummers who are around.)

More seriously, it's a real shame that the drummer didn't behave professionally and didn't do you and your piece the credit it really deserved. Regardless we're all proud of you here at GMC!

As FrankW says:

I'm sure you'll have people contacting you now asking you to do sessions etc. Way to go mate, fame and recognition are just around the corner for you cool.gif .

Best,

Sorry to hear that about the backing band, but I'm glad you had a fun trip and met a lot of cool people smile.gif

Now I want that videos from the show smile.gif

Posted by: MickeM Jun 14 2008, 10:55 PM

Muris, you're a winner no matter what. Win or no win, you're a winner here at GMC. Always!

Posted by: kevin-riff-after-riff Jun 14 2008, 11:50 PM

sorry you didnt win, you should have because you are better than the other people all i know from the videos!!
the drummer could have very well just hit his hihat every bar or something like that if he was clever but not good enough to play!!

anyhow i am still sulking bout how i didnt get to gooo!! sad.gif

Posted by: audiopaal Jun 15 2008, 03:44 AM

You're always a winner in my book smile.gif
I don't care if you didn't win, I still believe you're the best of the competitors..

It's great you had a good time, you deserve it smile.gif

Wish I'd been there, but hopefully I get to meet you guys another time smile.gif

Posted by: PlayAllDay Jun 15 2008, 04:10 AM

Well done Muris - congratulations, all this exposure will be very fortunate for you.
It's a good decision you made - to risk the band even though it didn't pay off - to always play it safe is not so good in the long run, you probably gained a lot of respect for the way you actually handled it onstage.

Posted by: Enucleation Jun 15 2008, 07:07 AM

It doesn't matetr if you won or not we know that you are the greatest thing to happen to guitar in a while!
