i have no idea. I use to jam with friends for hours, so coming with stuff on spot isn't that big of a deal, of course my technical part still restrains me from doing X things, and welll coming with solos in the spot is something different, pretty mediocre in fact.

One thing that makes me worry, it's my equipment. It isn't really that great, i mean i have manage to do a successful guig with it in a small bar for like 30-40 people. Don't know if they are expecting me to have like 4 story high boogie setup.

Thing i know about them, is that they are hoping - they want- to start workin on a EP in 2 months.

Well, if they will like jamming with u, they'll probably tell you if they think you should upgrade your gear and then you'll know what to do wink.gif

In the mean time, be sure to have fresh strings and be warmed up when you get there. What did they say they actually want a rhythm player or a soloist?

They said - we want fresh blood!.

Well, i gave a listen to some of their stuff (they have 3 songs out), it seems mostly rhythm stuff, there isn't really much of petruccian stuff, just double stop kind of solos. i could probably try to get some down by ear.

"Dia Cizento", is probably my favorite.

This sounds nice! Not that difficult to play either! You might want to surprise them and show up knowing one or two of their songs top notch biggrin.gif What do you think, would you be up for learning by ear?

I have a question!

So i was studying Time Signatures and stuff.

All the: 2/4 where you have two beat each bar , each being a crotchet, to 3/4 4/4...so on, but then i came across the 3/8 3 beats each one being a quaver, it makes sense, But then 4/8 4 beats being each a quaver.

Now 4/8 is basically the same as 2/4, it's the same length the only difference is how you count the beats.

MY question is, why do we have these 2 variations? why don't we like just simplify eveything to one?

Same goes for 2/2 and 4/4....and so on, so on.

Hey Renato,

It's all due to the fact that we have various pulses - the quarter notes, the 8th notes, 16th notes and so on provide various pulses in a rhythm so, if everything would not be differentiated, we would not have any idea about what sort of pulse we would have in that specific type of time signature.

See, in here the drummer accentuates beats 1 and 3 with the kick drum while playing 2 and 4 with the snare, everything being backed up by the hi-hats playing 8th notes. But it's still 4/4 because he accentuates 4 quarter notes in the bar smile.gif Am I making sense?
