Speaking of tabs and their lack of timing and note length explanations - I remember the day that I discovered the internet... I downloaded little towers of tabs and got home, eager to learn EVERYTHING! Well... needless to say, I was discouraged because I had no experience on how to combine my ears with reading the positions there and I had no means to slow down some very fast played phrases which I was of course in love with. I only understood over years, that tabs should be regarded solely as means to locate some positions, but for figuring things out, your ears should be the main instrument.
