Your guitar is very low in the mix, it seems to be good but I can't hear your phrases well.

Hello Gab,

Found this backing a little quick for me but I had a quick go. Obviously, I'll try to build on it for the final take but how is this so far? I tried to keep a 50s playing style and a 50s kind of guitar tone. I know it needs a lot of polishing wink.gif

Hi Phil! There are some cool things happening there. You just have to adjust timing.

If you think on this backing as 85 bpm, it shouldn't be quick. Play slower phrases while tapping with your foot at that tempo and you'll be comfortable. Try it!

I had a go at the half speed Gab, I couldn't get the same kind of licks coming through, I guess that's another skill set required wink.gif It just felt completely different. I will work on it though. smile.gif

Go another half and let me know what happens!

Posted by: Phil66 Feb 1 2019, 09:46 PM

I'm guessing you mean 75% of original speed and not another half slower (25%)? Basically I'm asking if you meant to another half up or down? wink.gif

That take was cool why over-thinking it? I think till 18 second it was great, don't change anything just a little practice for timing and thats it. between 18-20 maybe its better to stick with 1 note melodies and after that till end was cool too.

So sure if you have different stuff in mind do share but don't simplify what you already played just cause of a little timing swing that I'm sure you can handle! smile.gif

Basically that guitar which has P90s and my SRV patch which uses an early Marshall I think. I can't remember and aren't home this weekend.

Tank you onetabmat

I prefer the sound of my amplifier but the software simulation is easier to record.
Your take is good too, you could improve it a little bit to give it even more groove and cleanless.

I noticed that you had long fingers as the great guitarists. (Steeve Vai, paul Gilbert)
You'll be fast if you keep hard work smile.gif

Posted by: Adam M Feb 6 2019, 10:39 PM

At first I recorded few licks and tried to combine them together. But then I got an even better idea: re-record it all! But something went wrong. It starts the same then it's completely different from my original idea. I think it's much better, though!

For the record, I wasn't allowed to take today's two exams because failed one of the subjects. That means it's do or die for me now and I'll have to spend all my spare time studying hard or else I'll be removed from the college. But if I pass it, I'll have literally only MA thesis to do, no more distracting assignments and projects. I'll manage to fit a 30 minute practice in my schedule before the exam but not more.

If that's convenient for you, Gabriel, I could mail the audio files (and video, if you'll need it). Just let me know. smile.gif

Here's another take Gab, I haven't had much chance to practise over the backing sad.gif I've put this in here as a quick take as I am away this weekend and the deadline is Feb 10th so I may not get another chance.

It's just a quick take winging it as I usually do, no worries if you can't use it tongue.gif

I accidentally deleted my guitar files before saving one with no backing. rolleyes.gif I tried to duplicate the original solo as close as possible so it would fit with the original video. It proved to be more of a challenge to record than the original. biggrin.gif

Thank you! I did my best to improve since the last Collab! I wasn't taught how to improvise, so my phrases are a bit repetitive (maybe like some kind of a theme). Is it bad?

About improvising, I once read an interview with Kirk Hammett. He was talking about how there was little time between him joining and going to the studio with Kill Em All. The band told him to just start his solos the same way Dave did and go from there. I tried to do the same thing here instead of re-playing my previous licks 1:1.

As for the file, I'll edit this post later, when I extract the audio from video and I'll let you know through a PM smile.gif

Let's hope he'll reply soon. Maybe he's got busy days or no access to the Net.

I'm sure you meant "render" biggrin.gif

Well done, everyone! I hope I can participate in the next one! You all did a wonderful job! I even started dancing around my studio while doing some work here smile.gif

Brilliant EVERYONE and a special thanks to Gab, who, as usual, has gone above and beyond the call of duty to do this. Great cameo appearance from Laurent too wink.gif

This is one of my favourites, I had a little dance too, maybe Ben and I could record ourselves dancing for the next one laugh.gif

Can't wait for the next one.

Thanks again everyone, these things are what learning guitar is all about, playing music and having fun while doing it biggrin.gif

Everyone really dialed in on the 50s vibe. cool.gif Great job to everyone and enjoyed hearing all the solos. Thanks to Gabriel for another first-rate collab!

NICE!!! I hate to have to miss this one as Id planned on doing a rip off of the rip around the clock solo which i've wanted to do forever. Good news is there was no need as everyone played great it works like crazy!!! Great job everyone!

Very cool and good rendering, everything is vintage wish.

Congratulations to everyone for these goods jobs and nice guitar solos, and a big thank you to Gab for his work. smile.gif

Wow the level of creativity in this one is mind blowing - and it's so cool how you caught the perfect vibe for it! And it feels great to see Maharzan and Piotr in a collab again.

This one totally slipped of my radar and I really regret I didn't record a take in time. It's a good thing there will soon be a new one cool.gif

Putting this one up on the frontpage now!

Hi

Great collab

it is a shame that the take of Piotr is not complete, it has not been delivered on the forum

Why do you keep HD on Piotr and You ?
Why you enlarged with this quality aspect 360p on our take ?

Hi mate!! I didn't do anything special with takes but I suspect that maybe the youtube download made your takes look with less quality. I honestly didn't note this before you said it because your videos go great with the dancing videos.

Great work, everyone! It really fits the theme of 50's and the dancing scenes make it even better. You did an amazing job putting it together, Gab! smile.gif

Hi

It’s blurry and not beautiful. I don't understand ? Youtube allows download in HD.
It reduces the pleasure of the eyes sad.gif

It was my fault mate. Sorry about it! I’m so used to deal with low quality files when doing this collabs so I didn’t re-check the original youtube vids.

However, the low fi fits well with the dancing scenes.
