Hey everyone.
I am starting to do more some small gigs, and besides the fact that I am still not a big fan of my own voice, I am starting to play more often and I need to sing (backing vocals, and some songs as main vocals). My voice can low without too much effort (Johnny Cash) but for desperation of people I will attempt to sing "La camisa negra" (Juanes) soon. I searched for this question both in GMC and internet and it seems there are 3 standard answers: SM 57, SM 58 and Beta 58. The question is then: which one of them should I buy and why? What differs between these models? I checked some specs and saw that Beta models has variable frequency response on lows. Does that affect voice quality if I sing really low? or only the proximity effect? This post has been edited by Gus: Dec 7 2008, 11:54 PM -------------------- my "Thank you GMC!" video

Can't go wrong with the SM58 and it is a tank. This video is spot on and amusing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33QPLbQi9FI . Sm57 is usually used for instrument mic'ing but can be better than sm58 on some voices.
But...just to play devil's advocate, Sennheiser had nice mic's too. The e835 would be a comparable model. Mike -------------------- Mike
