Don't quite understand the question, you are trying to come up with your own licks, and you hear them in your head, but can't do them on the fretboard?

I would say that comes with experience. Listen to everything possible. I had that problem long ago but later I could easily come up with interesting stuff. What style do you like? For example when I wanted to learn modern way of blues phrasing I listened to Robben Ford 24/7 and now it's a whole sea of licks in my hands that I can easily convert to what I need in music. It just takes time.

well my favorite bands are Rammstein, Metallica, Iron maiden i also enjoy Joe Satriani i guess im rushing things iv been playing for 8/9 months and im really forcing my self to excell thx for your words Emir thx all of you Ok now I got the point. You want some rock/metal licks. All bands that you mentiond are influenced by some older stuff. Kirk Hamet, Joe Satriani and both Maiden (now 3) guitarists listened to Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and similar guitarists. They would never have good sounding licks if they learned from metal bands similar to what they play. That's why I said listen to everything possible and time will tell. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Practice scales and try to come up with licks from the scale nd the try to play it in different boxes or even different scales... But as Emir said it takes time and experience and since you only have been playing 8/9 months this isent easy but try to learn some scales and how they sound and also listened to you favorite guitarist and get som inspiration from there......

I would suggest also to play fingerings that you are not used to , just force yourself to play something that you wouldn't normally (you practice scales in patterns, you want to get away from them).Try playing weird (to you) fingering in order to come up with new phrases , and maybe more original
