Hey guys, so recently I started a band. All of my friends however are starters. I scored a $1000.00 drum set off of a friend for $150.00 bucks so that one of my other friends could practice on it until he can get one. Now I am trying to help a friend find a good but affordable bass because the only time he can play is on his cousins.... Could anyone help?

Used Fender American (or mexican) Jazz Bass (one with active electronics will do the job great too) would be the best option to go for.

From cheaper (but good) options I can recommend :

(sorted by price high to low):
http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/pr...itar?sku=512188
http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/pr...Bass?sku=511400
http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/pr...itar?sku=511369

I haven't found (what is available to me to try here) any other basses that gave that well price/sound ratio! smile.gif

There is couple of Ibanez models that are great for the price, and have active electronics. Also I recommend Peavey Cyrus model, my bass player has one and it is good for starting out.

I checked the Craigslist for your area and there aren't many basses. sad.gif

There's a Variax bass for a good price if it's still available.

I've got a Dean Edge 09 bass I could part with. Something he could use till he finds what he really wants.

If you speak of RBX lower priced models like 170 or 260, they are very good (i will actually soon buy one of these since they are cheap and cool to play), but they do lack a low end.
