Hello everyone! First of all I just want to say that I've been a menber of GMC for about 2 years now, but never actually took part in any of the forum discussion, but after two years of watching and reading all the awsome stuff on here, I thought it was about time to start trying to contribute and further enjoy this amazing resource for guitar players. The story of me and the guitar is somewhat odd. I got my first accoustic when I was in the sixth grade. My teacher would give lessons to a group after school and I joined because I wanted to learn to play. After two weeks of struggling with basic chord shapes my teacher told me he felt my hands were too small for playing guitar(the accoustic I had was standard size) and to try again when I got older. This was very discouraging to a 9 or 10 year old kid...so much so that I sold the accoustic and basically quite music alltogether untill I reached college. Once I started college I started playing music again...but on a piano and keyboard! I played piano for about 5 years before thinking about picking up a guitar. Finally what prompted me to pick up a guitar was basically bribery, I had a close friend who wanted to start playing guitar and because I wanted them to try this I made a deal with them that if they would try it I would also. Long story short they quite after about 6 months and I been at it for going on 4 years now! (told you this was odd, and I still play Keyboard). Perhaps the greatest contribution GMC has made for me has been to show me the many different styles of guitar playing and how great they are. Originally my taste in guitar ran to the likes of SRV, Gary Moore, and the three Kings of the blues. I also liked groups like the Eagles, Kansas, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, and Boston. Thanks to GMC I have come to love the sounds and styles of groups like Iron Maiden, Europe, megadeth and others. Well, did not really mean for this post to be so long but it got away from me:) Hope I can contribute constructively to the forums and look forward to interacting with all of you!

Hey guys! Thanks for the warm welcome. Haven't figured out how to put in mutiple quotes in my posts yet but thought I'd take a moment and respond to some of your comments
Kris- To be honest I have two reasons for deciding to get involved in the forums at this point. Reason one I noticed some of the older members like Staffey and Zak Wilde seemed to be no longer around and I feel that the newer members should step and start contributing to the forums. Secondly I see quite a few music theory questions on here. I am a bit of a theory nut from playing guitar and piano and felt I could help some of the members to better understand the theory side of playing guitar Ben- Yeah I agree about size. My hands were small when I was little and I could'nt reach far enough to play even basic chords. My hands are still small but I have found that if you practice you will be surprised how far you can reach. Right now I'm working through the Tears in the rain lesson by Dejan and there was a time in my life when I would have thought I'd never be able to play that opening chord. But I can do it! Kris is right, hard work pays off. Quadrium- Congrats on your recent election man! I have often enjoyed just reading the forums, now that I'm partisapating, I figure to enjoy it twice as much! Its great having a place like GMC to talk about guitar and music in general Daniel- Yeah guys like Django and Tony Iommi were a real inspiration for me. They didn't let problems stop them. Once again it all goes back to hard work and Practice! Justin- Thanks man! Other than how to put multiple quotes in a post I'm good for now -------------------- My Sound Cloud Profile: http://soundcloud.com/casinostrat

Thanks for the info about how to put in multiple quotes Kris, I didn't know about the auto merge feature.
Azzaboi- Awesome video! That guy clearly wasn't going to let his disability get in the way of his playing the guitar. Perhaps what's most amazing to me is the way he frets the chords with his toes. Guess he has calloused toes instead of fingers!Just goes to show you that no matter what challenges you face, be it small hands or no hands at all, you can do it if you want it bad enough and are willing to work at it. -------------------- My Sound Cloud Profile: http://soundcloud.com/casinostrat
