Hey friends! What's up?

This week I my girlfriend's sister wedding. I haven't gone to many wedding in my life, I think that 2. I'm not used to wear the formal clothes that are required to go to weddings so I have to see if I rent some, or buy.. don't know. The "legal" wedding will be this Thursday in the mid day, and the church + wedding party will happen the next Saturday. So I need special clothes both days... mad.gif hahah

As I had this in mind, I was wondering how the wedding are celebrated in your country and if you like going to weddings? what are the good and the bad things of them?

I'm sure you'll get a lot of opinions from this thread. In the US you either get a Las Vegas wedding,(usually when your both drunk) a shotgun wedding,(when she's pregnant, and her dad is packing heat at the alter) a California marriage,(the two of you live together till the law finally say's your married), or a traditional marriage. A traditional marriage is very expensive, and women trying to out do each other which just ramp up the costs. If you try and say, "Hey that dress looks great dear, but it's $10,000. They just start crying till they get their way." I've been married a long time, but probably not for long if I keep playing that Ben Higgens Picking Hand exercise. She keeps telling me, "Your playing that song again. Can you play something else; I'm tired of that song already?" laugh.gif

I've only been to a wedding once, but it was awesome. biggrin.gif
One of the best parties I've had (the fact that it was the wedding of a friend helps a lot.).

Plus it's a good excuse to put on your costume!
Didn't ZZ Top say "every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man"? wink.gif

Married twice me....

First time: big white wedding ...cost a small fortune...Church, Rolls Royce, lots of guests...big party...load presents...honey moon.

Second time:..(my current wife)...low cost...registry office..Daimler...Just Family...Indian restaurant..not many presents..Still haven't been on the Honeymoon...But the second was the best!!!

If it was me going to someone elses wedding...I wouldn't hire clothes..I'd dress with respect and wear something I wanted. Being a rock star Gab...you have to dress like one even at a wedding!!!! cool.gif

I've been to a couple of weddings and was best man twice (for two different guys).
Weddings in Germany seem to be just like you described for Argentina. A formal one and the big one in the church, with a huge party afterwards.
I played in a sort of wedding band for 8 years, so I've also seen my share of weddings as a musician.
Personally, I don't think I'd marry...but I might be up for a Las Vegas wedding biggrin.gif

I love weddings. It was my brothers wedding a couple of year ago and I was the best man.In Scotland traditional clothes for a male would be a kilt. I hired a kilt for the wedding. Then once arriving at wedding venue there is someone playing the bagpipes outside.Lots of drinking and a great day smile.gif

Bad point. Being best man I had to do a speech in front of 100 people. I was shaking like a leaf laugh.gif

Hate weddings here smile.gif

I personally find it weird when trying to do every known "traditional event" on a wedding happening in a bigger city. I mean the modern age always kicks in; while people are dancing to some 500 year old traditional music in a blink of an eye you realize you're tortured by something like gangnam style biggrin.gif

Clothes are easy for man; Just a shirt, tie and a decent pants are good enough unless its super expensive organisation smile.gif

Weddings are usually crowded cause every guest in some part of the wedding gives the couple gold or money, this money is usually more than enough to afford the wedding and with the rest of it the couple has an easier start in life.

As a freelance guitar player I've probably witnessed 350 weddings.
Most are a big drag. Over planning and unrealistic timing of events and activities lead to a lot of unnecessary stress.
The more casual they are with the least amount planning - tend to always work out the best. For the families, the bride and groom and all the guests.

I had mine at the courthouse with 12 people ... for $75.00 ... and then we went out to dinner. Needless to say, both fathers were very happy.

I'm not a weddings fan. Actually I hate them tongue.gif The big thing that I hate is that I never understand why I must invite some persons that I didn't saw them since I was a child. But somehow they are from the family.
Also I don't like wedding outfits. When I go somewhere I want to feel good and dance all night, I don't want to feel myself as a clown biggrin.gif
So, if the wedding it's a must I prefer very small and nonconformist weddings, between close family and best friends.

In Poland we celebrate weddings very well smile.gif It's sound weird that You've been only at 2 being 30+ biggrin.gif

The coolest things about polish weddings are tons of food (veru good usually but of course unhealthy), dancing till the morning sun and having great fun with close family and friends.

The worst things are...when the band on wedding is poor and You can stand listening to them tongue.gif

Another funny thing about weddings...If there is a lot of Your friends it's almost sure they will make You play something for them with a band who does work on that wedding tongue.gif At least that's what usually happens to me tongue.gif
