GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Are You The Man Of The House?

Posted by: El Fortinero Jan 9 2012, 02:21 AM

(well I hope it is the same connotations as in spanish...)

when something brokes in your house, are you the one who fix it? or call the specialist?

I can handle electricity (almost everything in the house), painting, problems with the toilet or shower, fixing a wall.

My next challenge is to conect a fan and its controller, the fan has 4 cables, the command point 3, and I have only 3 cables from my electricity blink.gif

what about you, r u THE MAN of the house??

Literally I am the only man in the house (just me and the wife). And when anything techy breaks in my family like computers or camera's, I am usually the one to fix it smile.gif

Haha no I'm just a young kid (20 years old). I still live with my parents and little brother. My dad is the man of the house. wink.gif

My answer is NO. tongue.gif
I'm not so good with this type of things....

It's me and my wife-to-be now, so yes, I usually handle all the things. We renovated the place ourselves (not that professional job, but it looks sweet smile.gif ). I can handle power, but cannot handle power for bathroom for example, it's a bit tricky because it has more wires and 3-phase current for water heater. There are wide array of things I can fix, and keep a toolbox nearby always cool.gif

No, I'm crap at fixing anything (apart from the stable roof, which I'm happy to keep mentioning to my girl and feel like a hero !). She's the one who fixes most things. She even has a radiator bleeding key.

I know.

I am the one responsible for fixing stuff in the house, and doing any official phone calls, letters and forms.

But I wouldn't say I'm the boss, my wife has a very strong personality!

I know that feeling laugh.gif .

I did all the architect drawings when we built our house including the electrical and plumbing layouts. We are pretty self sufficient so it tends to be down to me to do the fixing and maintance but my daughter did help me paint her bedroom. My wife though insists that she does everything rolleyes.gif .

I am the master of all repairs in the house wink.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: Gitarrero Jan 9 2012, 07:45 PM

Since I'm single I'm the man of the house laugh.gif
I'd say I can handle most things myself, minor repairs, electricity, painting and stuff.
I'd only call a tech when the fridge or the washing machine were broken. And my car.

I am definitely the man of the house...........unless my wife tells me otherwise blink.gif
on the other hand,I am a licensed commercial builder

on a side note, when I first met my wife, one time she changed her oil in daisy dukes and a string bikini top
you can understand why I married her

Yeah I like a bit of DIY too. We completed a build of a new house about two years ago so had to get good at odd jobs plus I used to lay flooring as work. I feel after getting kids it's a nice excuse to get some peace wink.gif The only problem is that buying tools becomes addictive you just have to buy the meanest looking things, got myself a mitre saw the other week so gonna build a shed when the weather gets better. laugh.gif

A QUESTION TO ALL THE AUDIENCE

DOES WASHING THE DISHES HURT YOUR "MACHO" EGO?? dry.gif

if I am alone I don´t care to do it, but if someone comes and sees me doing it mmmm I feel a little less "man of the house" mad.gif

Doesn't bother me at all - we share the domestic stuff 50/50 anyway.

Then again I'm not bothered about being 'macho' or an 'alpha male' anyway smile.gif.

In my case, since all the Lupu clan shares a building, we all do something smile.gif so there's two guys in the house - me an dad, mom and grandma take care of the womanly stuff like cooking and washing. For instance, last Saturday, the winds in Bucharest reached about 60 km/ h speed and I found various stuff in my yard including broken fence parts and all sorts of damages which me and dad had to take care of - it's more like team work in my crib.

I do the cooking and the washing up. However I am the worst person at cleaning and tidying up
