GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Anyone Use Revalver Mkiii

hello GMC, does anyone use revalver and do i need to get a audio interface or could I use a mono 1/4 to 1/8 inch cable and plug it into my computer and if i could would someone please tell me how?

Instructor Lale Nikic is useing the Peavey Revalver for his lessons and he gets some seriously heavy sounds out of it!
I think it's best to get some sort of audio interface to connect the guitar to your computer...

Zakk is right as usual The Revalver plugin is great. Killer tone. You can download a demo of the plugin to see how you like it from the peavey web site.

You should probably buy an interface to record with. Stop by a music store and ask to see their Firewire and USB recording interfaces in your price range. Expect to spend at least $150 for a starter recorder interface. Once you have it set up, you will need some software. Your interface will probably come with something you can use. If you don't like it, you can download REAPER for free. Just google REAPER music software download.

Then install the Revalver plugin and it will launch inside of your recording software. If you are new to this, I have several posts about it in my instructor forum. Also, there are tons of vids on youtube about this very topic. Get an interface, download the software and give it a shot

I just use the speaker convolution section at times (just the demo version). And yes, recording interface (USB or Firewire) is a must if you want to record / play guitar clean on your recording softwares. When I started out my electric guitar on my computer some 5 years ago (I didn't have an amp), I used to connect that mini jack converter and to the computer's sound card. It did the job but I heard quite a lot of noise. Your sound card should really be good in that case however. I used to play like that but sometimes I kept feeling the jack was doing something and my mic input (or line in) was damaging.

You can use ReValver MKIII with POD Studio UX1 as well, but as a plugin inside your DAW software. UX1 is not that fast card, and it doesn't have onboard DSP, but it will do the job, if the project is not too demanding.
