hello kitty finish?
but let's be a bit less silly here. What would your personal taste be. Ie. what would you absolute not want to have as a finish? |

Thanks for sharing Caelumamittendum. You have inspired me to start doing this to one of my guitars that's also been collecting dust
I look forward to seeing your progress. Let me know how you make out scalloping the neck This is something I've never done but think I want to attempt. This post has been edited by Henry Dietzel: Aug 6 2008, 04:35 PM -------------------- |

Will do. I just realised inhaling all that dust isn't healthy, so I got a mask and glasses and all now

Useful tip : drink some milk after that job - it will diminish the sand negative effects

Following this guide: http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/scal1.htm yup, sure is a good guide. might want to remove the dots and replace them though, as you'll probably go trough them. |

Well, If you can get the right materials it would certainly be cool. But it's a very difficult process, especially for the beginner. Personally I'd start out with a color I like and add a few artistic touches to it like a simple graphic or blotches of a diffrent color of paint. What wrong with bright color basecoat, tape the pattern over it and darker tone over it. Simple spray can work that doesn't involve much except for spraying, sanding and cutting/removing tape. But it's not my guitar Thanks for the tip. As said I have no idea yet what I am to do. My father suggested just letting it have the woody-finish. It's all about having fun and learning for me, as the guitar was basically a 50 dollar guitar. you should do a swirl paint job http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/swirled.htm I did see it and think about it. But it looks a little difficult to gather and do. yup, sure is a good guide. might want to remove the dots and replace them though, as you'll probably go trough them. Well, I don't even know if I wanna replace them. Who needs dots anyways? |

I'm thinking this guitar might even become a fave guitar to play
We'll see. Anyone have any suggestions what I can do to the neck besides scalloping? |
