I'm taking a quiz tomorrow to see if I can get into my music theory class (only the most qualified according to the quiz are able to join the class) and I was wondering what the essentials (that you guys think) a person should know before taking a class like music theory

It was recommended to me that I learn some of the stuff on musictheory.net but I know a lot of it there - any other ideas?

Andrew's theory board 4ever! biggrin.gif

And basically if you browse the forum for specific tags like modes, 7th chords, relative modes, scales (you get the idea) then you'll find a huge amount of resource you can learn from.

But yes, mainly chord-knowledge, scales, how to accompany the two are important
