I'll admit...

I'm completely NEW to the metal genre, having a friend of mine introduce me to all the subgenres of metal and categorizing what I like to listen to...so I thought the best way to EXPERIENCE metal was live, and so Paganfest 2008 road trip was born. This was a folk-metal concert after all, so I have the chance to hear some wicked sick guitar on top of classic Celtic nostalgia.

And boy, was it the most badass thing I ever went to!!!!

Eluveitie opened, GREAT band, talented musicians, and I hung with them for a bit after the set...Tyr was decent, but they were a bit slow for my taste...Turisas was decent, and had some great tunes at the end (not to mention the accordion play for Turisas is INSANELY gorgeous biggrin.gif)...but Ensiferum (headliner) blew them all away, sparing no mercy through speedy riffs and HARDCORE mosh pit...I even saw a guy who looked A LOT like Wallimann MOSHING! biggrin.gif

Overall, the concert was amazing, I'm now sore from headbanging, as well as beaten up from 30-35 minutes total in the mosh pit (was a pretty brutal one)...and now I'm going to bed and sleep for forever since I'm so tired.

Mainly: If any of the above bands come to a city near you, GO SEE THEM...you won't regret it.

Edit: Going to try and upload the videos I had from Eluveitie/Ensiferum from my cellphone, and post them here.

hey thats awesome that you went.

I particularly like Elu and Turisas. All the bands where fantastic though, but Tyr was just disappointing, and I hate saying that because I love Tyr.

I found out why too. The reason the set was so short and unenergetic is because Tyr's drummer and...someone else, can't remember...had to cover for Elu, so he was like dead ass tired when he was done with Tyr's set...I just found that out like last night. Such a shame. I thought there was set was clean, I just didn't feel that energy coming from it like I did with the others.
