Okay so I have been around now for about 4 months and I must say I have seen some drastic improvement in my playing. When I first joined I would look at the lessons and pick a few but never seem to make it through without some difficulty but I would gain insight into something new each and every time.
So just recently I started looking at the various scale lessons and went back and learned the first two pentatonic boxes and I was like okay so now what? So I went and downloaded some backing tracks in different keys and different genres and started playing what ever would come to mind and it has been like a break through for me.
So I guess if anyone is getting down on practice or not being able to get some of the difficult things down in them just keep pressing on and learn what you can things will come. blink.gif

So thanks GMC instructors for all your time and effort that is put into each lesson .You guys are the best lesson site on the web and we the subscribers are fortunate to be able to learn from such people. Keep up the great work. rolleyes.gif

Hey, nice to hear you have been improving.

About pushing on the hard things, my experience tells me that the most important thing is to keep yourself motivated. That means you should not spend all your time trying a hard stuff, because you may lose your motivation if you do not clearly see your own improvement. You should try to balance amongst things you find easy, medium and hard.

However you should always have a kind of challenge that you spend something like 10% of your time on it. It's something you cannot really play now, but you really want to do it. You keep practicing it every day. One day, and that's for sure, you are going to play it and it is going to be so rewarding that you will only want to move forward wink.gif

Yeah I never did really get discourged when I ran across stuff that I could not play or could only play part of the lesson. I just made it a point to learn what I could at the time and then I would go back after sometime and try again. So for instance Lian lesson in the style of Alex Lahio I could easily play the cord progession but struggled with the lead part but I would go keep going back to it. Now with that said I still can not play it right but I have modified the song somewhat so that the lead fits my level of playing if that makes any sense. And for me that is what I was looking for , not to copy someone note for note, chord progession for chord progession but to be able to learn what I could and apply it to stuff that I have recorded or am working on and to me thats one of the gems of this site.
