I don't get out much anymore - being married, 2 kids just getting out of college and 1 entering his junior year, but I still love to talk about guitars and music, and play guitar and have a place to go to see lessons and breakdowns by some really great guitarists.

So, this is an outlet for me. I feel guitar and music in general is a constructive hobby to have and I would much rather devote my idle time to this than anything else.

Plus, I'd rather be here, than over there - the old site I was a mod at kept my stomach in a knot with all the doom porn and people talking about imminent end of the world stuff. Now I figure I'd just rather stay in the dark on all that junk and if a massive alien invasion were to take us all out, or the New World Order comes to get me, they'll have to drag my guitars along too.

because this is the most in depth instructional site i could find.
there are other sites that ive tried and currently a member, but they lack the one on one and feedback that this site has, i think its important to have instructors giving feedback and direction along with the videos used, what good are intructional vidoes, without the person making them tell you what your doing wrong and right.
this is as close as i could find with actually sitting down with a mentor, but it works out better cause i have you guys 24/7. gmc for the long run thanks fellas you rock.
Why dont you guys make some Tshirts for advertising I'd rock one cool.gif

Nah man, it's just that music is the only drug that won't make me end up in jail or in debt laugh.gif Although, if I would be a gear addict, I could get into serious debt.

Say, were any of you guys in a terrible financial situation because of spending too much money on gear?

Ironically, years ago I got into a bad financial situation with the same friend that is staying with me now.

We had played in a band together, and I quit because I was pursuing a psychology degree at night and working full-time - there was just too much on my plate.

Eventually, I decided I would put off the education - so I got back into another band, but I joined as the bass player - so I sold my Marshall JCM2000 and cabinet to my friend, in return he purchased me an Ampeg head and 8x10 cabinet, but, I had to order it and he was going to make payments on it.

Well - not long after the transaction someone broke into his (my old) practice room and stole the Marshall and a lot of other stuff, and my friend was left making payments on my bass rig with nothing to show for it.

The payments were not paid on time, I had to stay on him about it - it made my credit bad and I had the Musician's Friend debt collector constantly calling me.

I finally paid it off and had my friend just make payments to me, but I learned a valuable lesson during that experience. No matter how close a friend is and no matter how good intentions are - it's an entirely different dynamic when they are being separated from their money.

Since the 'murica congress has ruled out any privacy and signed/approved 30,000 spy drones for 2016. Microsoft Win 9 being released in 2015-2016 with a cloud network setup. NSA will get rid of 90% of their sysadmin and have it all automated to monitor the entire world. RFID Microchip will be implanted into humans, so they can TRACK your every move, control your jobs and money, control your food and possible even KILL you if you don’t obey! By 2016, there are 3.7 million HD cameras, a 29-fold increase in CCTV monitoring all citizens. New World Order will be in full effect, as one government takes control over the entire world. Freedom and free speech is a thing of the past. Concentration camps introduced forcing the next generations listening of teeny-pop music.

A virtual reality image of 'Michael Jackson' will be sent back to 2014 in an attempt to save the world from this corruption by real dancing in music videos. This advanced cyborg will protect pop music from it's entire destruction of audio sync and scripted dance patterns of the one direction.

However, by 2018, 'Blue Star Line' would of launched 'Titanic II', wiping out the entire world has a computer hacker breaks into the computer system of the ship and sets it speeding on a collision course into the world's last gigantic oil tanker, in the most boring plot ever thought up, but it has Sandra Bullock on-board to make it slightly interesting till the end.

The end of the world is clearly upon us and I just thought I could join the resistances! Vete al la music resistance!!!

My mum told me to get off my butt, stop watching soooo much TV and games, and actually enjoy real life! It's scary...

If I ever survive and get to have children, I'm going to make them watch the movie '2012' and tell them stories about how I survived all that and how heavy metal and shred isn't old folks music! You use to actually have to hold a guitar and have a tad of something known as talent gained by hours and hours of practice. Of course, they will just think I'm crazy.

Thanks for your kind words mate. GMC rocks! I would have loved to have this site when I was a beginner but internet wasn't an option in those years.

T-shirts? Why not? biggrin.gif

If I had GMC back in 1998 when my journey began - I think I would've evolved and understood things A LOT faster than I managed on my own and with the help of very well intentioned people (great players nevertheless) who were lacking pedagogic skills.

Anyway, I am learning too so that makes us all students and teachers here, it all depends on the moments in time biggrin.gif

hahaha, Why would we waste our time thinking on the end of the world? tongue.gif I don't mean that we don't want to take care of the planet, but it there is something that naturally will end everything, there is nothing we can do... as the Ramones used to say: Here today, gone tomorrow. biggrin.gif

and now again.. why are you here guys and girls? smile.gif

I signed up for a month with the main goal of learning a black sabbath lesson I stumbled upon via youtube. Within that month however, I discovered that not only was that particular lesson completely out of my league but almost everything I thought I knew about playing and practising guitar was nonsense smile.gif
