Hey all. I am playing around with a song idea which I have uploaded a portion below. I have no idea how to do drums or create beats. Any suggestions on samples, or any free drum software?

I see in older posts people mention EZDrummer. Is that still what everyone uses?

Thanks.

Check this guy out. I'm also in same boat and I've download this.
EZ drummer cost some bucks but looks good cause it has already made drum loops.

Yeah, a lot of people use EZ Drummer or Superior Drummer. I'm afraid I only have experience with the former, where, as zoom said, you're given a library of pre-composed drum parts, which you can then edit in a MIDI editor (there's one in Reaper if you use that).

Gotta love EZD. I use it myself. Good alt to SD. It costs a lot.

Thanks guys. I will save up and try and buy it soon. I downloaded reaper to try but am so used to using ABelton Live Lite that I got frustrated. May try it again as it seems to have some great features.

THanks!

EZD is certainly good but if you want a free one don't forget that the majority of recording/mixing DAWs come with one or more included as standard.

I can create beats and drum tracks in Abelton Live by putting kick, snare and other pieces together manually, but I don't understand drum mechanics very well. I was beating some out on my computer keyboard last night, but I figured a kit would sound better and be easier...I am hoping!

Steven Slate Drums, absolutely love them. $100 gets you the base package (SSD EX) and that alone has a ton of options, with many expansions available to it. They have many signature kits from Mike Portnoy, Lars Ulrich, Vinnie Paul, John Bonham, and many more.

EZDrummer is very good, if you can buy it, buy it. It is compatible with GM maps, not always, but usually, so it will play any MIDI with minimum editing.

It sounds good for pilot projects, you don't need to tweak it a lot (lowering down hihat and room channels is usually enough).
