Yep, if you're a fan of the great Mastodon, then you should know that their newest album, Crack The Skye, dropped today. In case you didn't know, well, now you do smile.gif
I haven't had a chance to listen to the album yet, but I was pleased with video of the song "Divinations." Are there any Mastodon fans out there, or am I floating in this sea alone?

Btw, here's the video of the song, Divinations.

I AM A HUGE FAN AND I'VE BEEN LISTENING ALL DAY LONG!

...it's diffrent, I am not sure if I like it yet. This record is HUGE, I can't describe it. It is definitely diffrent to their previous records; it's not as wild and heavy - more melodic, better vocals and they added Keyboards and Bass synths into the sound - and they also tamed their incredibly weird drummer (he was playing FILLS ALL THE TIME^^)

The record is one big piece of music, you can't just pick one song or shuffle the tracks, it has an atmosphere of it's own and you have to listen from the start to the end. They still sound like mastodon, just with more melody and less chaos but the music is still very progressive and not easy to listen to because it needs your full attention.

Ok, after reading ZakkWylde's post I'll give Mastodon another chance!
I haven't been to fond of them earlier, not even live for some reason..

That caught my attention, so I'll have a listen at their new album smile.gif

The new album is great. It's different, it's still Mastodon and it's great smile.gif I like what they've done with the vocals on this one.

Listen to it entirely without a break and you'll know what I meant, it's like a concept album should be....

Well, I finally got around to listening to it completely last night, and I must say...
I'm impressed with what they've done here. It might lack the ferocity of older albums like, Leviathan or Remission, but they're still angry, they just hide it under more melodies and whatnot. Definitely worth a listen or two for anybody.

I was at Mastodon's album release show at Scion Rock Fest in Atlanta and they played the whole new album. I really enjoyed it and it was cool because one of the singers in Neurosis came on stage and sang the last two songs with them.

I shall do.. A friend of mine writes reviews for some webzine and I think he managed to get a preview of the album for review purposes. He was pretty impressed.

The more I listen to the album, the more I love it. What is so cool about these guys is that they don't just redo what has proven to be good in the past, they search for a way to progress even further. And I think they are good at it.

Also the making of Crack the Skye is good to watch and it gives you alot more background to the songs on the album.

I think the album is just 3top knotch, Its awsome from start to finish, As I see it the only way to listen to it is the entire album in one sitting.

I listened to this for the first time yesterday. I must say I didn't have very high hopes for this, seeing as I thought Blood Mountain was a step backwards. But damn, this is by far their best cd imo, and it might actually be the best this year. I really love it.
