Listen to Dream Theater - Train of Thought.
Track 1 - As I am.

I like to know how to play a chord and at the end let the guitar scream after the chord has sound for a while. I think it's no harmonic pinch Petrucci used on this part.
Listen to 0:55 till 1:12 of track 1.

Can somebody create a lesson that uses this technique?

Thanks Muris... I was already looking for a request thread on your section, but couldn't find one. So I've posted my request here... and you took it, nice!

I'm not sure if I can post a piece of the song here (I own original). I'll just post a part of the song that's needed. (Cut it out). If I can't post pieces of songs here, then let me know and I will delete it again.
If I can post this piece here, then I hope it will help you out Muris.

Well, I've never done it before and it sounds cool to me. Perhaps a lesson can be given on this effect! Muris... if you like... biggrin.gif

As I Am is probably my least favorite song of Train of Thought, so I haven't listened to it insane amounts like the other songs on the album, but I am pretty sure I know what part you are talking about. I think he does either feedback or some kind of pinch harmonic, or he does tapped harmonic and lets it off slowly an octave up.

Feedback.. I am 99% sure its feedback, whammed up an octave (plly?) with trem.. it'd be fun , to make this kind of lessons, 'cause feedback gets off only when cranked up biggrin.gif poor Muris'es neighbours biggrin.gif

I think it could be feedback, but I'm not sure... It sounds a little bit like the harmonic pinch, but if you would do that, the sound will be there when you pinch it. In this part you hear the normal tone first and then it gets to the harmonic pinch sound very slowly.

(It could be feedback...).
I would like to see a lesson on that. (Never seen a lesson before that involves gear/amps etc up here... or I haven't searched that hard).

Just listening to MP3,might be feedback but it comes too fast and clean.
Harmonic is another solution but not tapped one,it's more like "touching" harmonic.
Similar effect can be done using Ebow as well, will see what I can do. smile.gif

That it sounds to clean for a feedback is also what I thought... I'm curious what you can find out. And I hope there will be a lesson on it. biggrin.gif

Yeah it's feedback, I got the dvd live at budokan and it's cleary feedback. Also in some extra video something is said like "He's got to play 100 000's of notes and all he worry about is the right feedback spot. John : if you miss the feedback spot you'll ruin the whole show." (He probably says this because "as I am" was the first song of the show.
