Topic title pretty much explains itself, is it possible to lower the action on an acoustic guitar? And HOW? Since there are no screws to adjust....my only idea is file down the nut/ buy a new one since. Can it be done?

Or possibly sand a bit off of the saddle. But as you said I would make sure the nut is the right height first and the neck properly set up.

You can sand the bottom of the nut to drop the action, or file the slots a bit deeper. Either of these methods will lower your action at the Headstock end of the neck and as Skenny says you can sand the bottom of the Saddle to lower it at the top end of the neck. Go and get a couple of spare nuts and saddles and have a go!

I did this and it worked on my acoustic (classical guitar). I have sanded the bottom of the saddle to lower action to my needs. Just try not to sand off too much wink.gif

On my ovation, there was a spacer under the bridge saddles that I removed. On my Yamaha, I actually filed the whale bone at the bridge a bit. That combined with slight (SLIGHT!) truss rod adjustments, and I was able to get a lower action.
