Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi friend!

Nice take! You have a good sense of rhythm along the whole take and your tone fits well with the backing and style. There are obviously some more work to do in order to adjust some parts of the lesson. I notice that there are 3 elements that require your attention and work.

The first one is your bending technique. I've noted that there are bends that don't reach the correct pitch so you need to dedicate some diary time to polish this technique and make it more consistent. Feel free to write me if you need any exercises for this.

The second thing that I've found in different parts of the solo is the apparition of unwanted noises when playing some licks. This can be fixed by improving your muting skills. I recommend you to get into THIS LESSON to take some ideas on how to fix this.

Finally, I think that your vibrato technique deserves some more work. Your vibrato need to be more consistent. I find it a bit weak and irregular. We have great lessons by Ben Higgins based on this topic.

That's all by now, keep on the hard work!

Nice Med - great to see a new take from you!

If I were to single out one thing that would lift your playing to a completely new level it is the vibrato for sure. So you might want to check out the actual vibrato movements more in detail, and listen closely to how vibrato can be phrased.

I do sense your tone is a bit bass heavy which would explain why you might have problem blending your lead with the backing. In this mix you are louder which is a disadvantage - as your take does not get all the mojo contained in the backing - plus we can here your mistakes better.

You are doing good though as Gab said- so just keep up the great work! You get a 6 from me.

Hey there man!

I'm so sorry but you can't get a good grade from me because in REC we do not give grades for overall ability to play guitar but for a take of particular lesson. We both know you did just a draft of this lesson. In theory it's a full song lesson but even if we forget about first minuts of just playing chords and skip directly to a solo, it's still just a draft of the solo. It sounds like it's more an improvisation based on the solo, rather than the solo itself. You use some elements of it, but lots of stuff doesn't fit the original. I think it's more a cool video for forum brainstorming than a rec take. But it's all with no bad intention at all. Just saying the facts.

Most of beuty of this iconic solo are the details - vibrato depth and timing, prebends, smoothness. In your take it sound a little like a piece made of little cuts with breaks inbetween. I'm completely sure you are able to make justice to this lesson, but what you delivewr here is just a "shortcut". Shortcut won't make you a better player because you just manages to use some skills you already had to play this, instead of trying to force yourself to do some extra stuff and find some details that you maybe didn't care that muhc before. I hope to see another take of yours. I'm sure you can bring it to a new level. All best!

Good point made by Darius - in order to qualify, you need to play the whole lesson. Feel free to take our advice into consideration though, and maybe give the whole lesson a shot!

Closing!
