I dont see Judas Prist on the NWOBHM list, or do you count it as british steel?

Btw, add Gaate to folk metal.

What about bands like

Rammstein
Marilyn Manson
White Zombie/Rob Zombie
Nine Inch Nails
Filter
System of a Down

I didn't see them but I think they are more "industrial" or "Nu" metal. Don't know how many sub genres you may want but I could devise a list of those kinds of bands if you like.

You gotta add In Flames to the death metal category!, that's the band that got me off the very restricted world of mainstream music!

hey Uncreator for Behemoth, shoudnt you specify that there later albums ie: Satanica and the albums beyond that are there death metal release or (Blackened) Death Metal

Sventevith and Grom beeing there early Black Metal releases.

Im sure most people here arent anal about that stuff but its good to clear up so people would know the difference between early Behemoth and there later releases.

Awesome list btw. im lookin for bands that you didnt mentioned. Im sure it would tough seeing as how you mentioned most of the bands I listen to.

I'm pretty sure there is a black metal band called Dissection. There might be more than one band of course.

There is a Canadian death metal band called Creep Colony aswell btw. We got the name first though, too bad we have no proof. But we talked a little with them, it was ok for them so we just leave it tongue.gif Two different genres anyway.

And once this list is satisfactory, im goona run your idea by kris, about having a separaye thread for each genre, and making them a sticky.

Make browsing the list easier. smile.gif

Thanks Everyone for helping me out with this.

It would be great to have bands to recommend. Because someone that doesn't know anything about say black metal need bands to start out with before picking a random band from the list. wink.gif

Great list!

Allthough, Red Sparrowes shouldn't be on there as VinceG said, they're definetly post rock.

I'd like to add Cult of Luna, Neurosis and Pelican for Doom/Sludge/Stoner/Drone.

And for Progressive you forgot both Novembre and Nahemah, two awesome bands!

1349 is missing from the black metal one, and Mastodon is missing from wherever they fit in biggrin.gif

EDIT: Oh, and concerning Dissection, aren't they considered black/death? If we're talking about the swedish band with Jon Nödtveidt as the front man that is.

EDIT again: Oh, and Avatar is missing from the Melodic Death section!
