Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi sumitnxt!

This lesson is getting closer but there are still some elements that need attention in order to take your playing to a new level. You can play all the licks clean and clear which is not a small thing, now please focus on:

- Vibrato: Most of your vibratos sound weak on this one while the original lesson makes important emphasis on this technique. Start by focusing more on this, and if it still has issues, dedicate some time each day to gain strengh. Remember to start the movement from the wrist of your left hand.

- Bending: There are not many bends on this one, but they need to be polished. You don't reach the correct pitch smoothly.

- Timing and hands sync: There are timing issues and things don't sound completly tight during the faster sections. I also notice that your left hand fingers separate too much from the fretboard when playing. Try to keep your fingers closer to the fretboard even when you are not using them.

That's all by now, keep on the hard work!!

Congrats on learning this piece and well done for making a go at it !!!! There is quite a bit that could use some work, so let's dig in. At about 16 seconds, the first bend doens't quite reach pitch and I notice that this becomes a theme. Try to isolate each bend and find the right note that it should be bent towards so that you can bend to pitch. This is something that just requires ear training and repetition.

Around 32 seconds, you start slipping off beat just a pinch. Playing in time is not easy when doing brisk note changes. Isolation is your friend here as well. Isolate just this part and loop it until you have gotten it tight and on beat.
Around 1:32 you start lagging again just a bit behind the beat as the notes start speeding up. I notice that you thumb is heading over the top of the neck for quite a bit of this piece and sometimes that's fine, but sometimes it can get in the way and make you a bit less accurate.

On a positive note, there are a LOT of notes in this bit and you clearly have spent time to learn the piece. It just needs to be polished up a bit and given on more go!!! Solid 6 from me.
Todd

This is a nice etude and I can tell it is doing great to your playing!

I would like to add that if you want to keep working on this lesson - it would benefit your greatly if you could use a slower backing. Even though you have done a good job working your way up to tempo - you will be able to improve faster if you give your brain some space to think about these improvements when playing/practicing.

Another option, which is just as good - is to choose a new lesson, and this time try to stay for a bit longer on the slower tempos - to get down all the nuances pointed out to you herr.

Keep up the good work, you get a 6 from me!

Hey there!

In general your take is pleasant to listen. It does not have any critical mistakes that would literally disturb an ears of a listener.
The deal with your take is that every techniqe you use is at similar "between beginner and intermediate" level. Which is actually a good news, because it proves you work on every aspect of your playing equally. Let me just tell you about two main things that make you sound like a student while Muris definitely sounds like a pro playing beginner stuff. These are picking strength and vibrato execution. Picking strength generates the tone besides all equipment we use. The circle-picking-like metchod you use is slightly too soft. Try to cooparte more with the wrist. Circle pickign is great while you'll try to speed up things. At slow tempo wrist gives better control over timing and equality of each note. Your vibrate is a little weka now because your left hand grip for it is not solid yet. You try to move both wrist and the finger and it looks like a house of cards falling apart. You need to make you left hand quite...let's say "tensed" at the fingers part while the rotation of the wrist makes the vibration. Try to pull the string down and like if get back to it's natural tension. Pulse these two things alternately. That how it works. Don't bend the string up.

These two aspect "uncover" the fact your not a pro in a first place so I belive that's where to spend most of wise* practise time from now on smile.gif

wise* 30 minutes of focused practise with analysis of what's happening and why issue appears, is worth more than 3 hours practise waiting that hipefully things will somehow solve themselves on their own smile.gif

Well said!!!!!! The amount of force, controlled force of course, used on pick strikes is a HUGE factor in one "tone". It's often underestimated as to just how critically important it is to be able to hit the string hard or soft in a controlled manner. Knowing when to strike hard is part 1, then being able to strike hard is part 2. If you strike soft when you should strike hard, it will stick out like a sore thumb to anyone nearing the "pro" level of play. Regular folks may not notice it as not striking hard enough, they will just notice that it sounds somehow "not good".,

Also, BINGO on the practice thing. Focused, deliberate practice on isolated problems is worth 10 times the amount of unfocused practice. Isolate these bits that we are all talkig about.

You've done well enough to make a passing grade on this but your work on the issues being mentioned is far from over. The good news is that you clearly are willing to put in the time and you are on your way toward working these issues out. Once you do, your playing will sound better overall.
I'd like to invite you to join my SHRED BOOTCAMP to help you focus a bit on your picking. Bootcamp is all about technique and you could use just a bit more work on yours. Just shoot me a personal message here if your interested. If you are too busy for it, that's fine. Just wanted to make the offer smile.gif
