The audio gear part of their business has always been tiny compared to guitars, so this isn't very big news.

Sorta sad to see them fold after 70 years! They made it through several wars and market crashes. Then they split with Kiesel /carvin guitars and bam, pushing up daisies.

The good news is that they are going to liquidate all inventory. Prices are not that great yet, but give it time and you can probably get a killer deal on Carvin gear. Keep in mind though that the company is gone so getting support/repairs is gonna be wonky.

Looks to me like they have already sold all their amps.

I wonder how/if this affects Steve Vai personally.

I can image his Carvin/Ibanez endorsement being financially important with plumeting record sales.

I wonder who Steve will go to now. I'm thinking Mesa would have the fan base and money to offer him

My guess is on roland/boss as they already offered a vai-tone capsule, Mesa's I've heard were really too far-off tone-wise when thinking vai.

I also hear a good vai sound on this video although the guy is playing nothing in his style (jump 40 sec.s)

I didn't even think of that but YEAH!!! He has ben a CARVIN guy for years with the LEGACY amps which are quite nice. I wonder if he will still play them? I know he probably will need to switch to something else to make up the income that is going to go away from CARVIN.
