there is nothing like having the odd reminder of actually how insignificant we really are, puts things in to perspective. been an astronomy fan for quite a few years now and found that clip very interesting, just wondering which ones are the closest to going nova and how many lifetmes we would have to wait to see it.

I completely agree with you.

I mean, I get up drink my coffee, get into my car, drive to work , blah blah blah see the same sights every single day.
Yet all around us is inconceivably complex things. Astronomy has always drove me batty, I think it's the coolest thing ever. For humans to even understand 1/213827354984375984375984343987th of what's going on in the universe is a pretty cool feat I think. People are so concerned with the little things in life like what Cameron Diaz is wearing or who won that grammy. I think if we devoted ourselves to science more and less to entertainment as a race we'd be far more advanced.
For the our sun, the beacon of light in our solar system to be the size of an atom compared to that last star is mind boggling. I sometimes wish I was born way in the future so I could really understand how complex and amazing the universe really is.

You know when humans thought the planet was flat? I feel like we have a bunch of misconceptions of the universe in exactly the same way. I'm sure in like 100 years we'll be like 'CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY THOUGHT THAT?!?!!'. I pisses me off I was born now because I want to have allll that knowledge sad.gif

Oh well, hopefully the human race won't eradicate itself before it understands the complexities of our amazing universe!

Okay back to my banal, inane existence.

I betcha that in some years (read within my lifetime) they'll find another star which makes Canis Majoris look like an atom in comparison.

5. Bad Language. If you need to use bad language to express yourself, then the chances are you could benefit from a course in English. GMC will not allow bad language to be used on the boards. We all swear occasionally, and sometimes we want to make a point on the boards, that is fine if you stick to the following guidelines:
Mild expletives that are allowed include things like damn, crap, ass and their derivatives
Sexual words that are part of everyday language are allowed - e.g. "This amp has got some balls", but using the same word in a sexual way is not, for instance "This Amp's balls are as big as mine!"
Any stronger expletives should not be used. These include words like s*** f*** b****** c*** and their derivatives. Putting the words in your post starred out, will not be regarded as acceptable.
Any of the above words that are deliberately misspelled, yet are recognizable will be treated exactly as the above. For instance replacing I in s*** with a y.
Please be respectful to peoples Faith's and Religions. Religious swearing such as "God Damn" or it's derivatives can be upsetting to some people.

Great Vid Cal. smile.gif

While i was watching i didn't read any of the comments i half expected it to be some kind of Joke, like at the very end have Ynqwie's head or something. Boy it had me fooled lol.

I agree with the fact we will find something larger. I have always theorized in my own head that the universe is infinite in macrocosm and microcosm. Think about it, what if we found out that our solar system is a molecule in an infinately larger universe. That means humans would be sub-atomic particles, made up of infinitely smaller material, so on and so forth. When i think about it like this it makes my head spin lol
