it's only an idea, but may we can do a collab around a BB king track tribute?

I think it's a great idea Laurent. We can't use a BB King track from YT for a collab. But...definitely we can find in GMC a backing track in the style of BB King wink.gif

This is a sad day. I just saw right now the news.

Today, the blues have the blues as all blues fans in the world.
The man has done so much for electric blues guitar. His legacy will live forever.

A collab as a tribute is a very good idea.

Let's do it!

I think of something simple and straight to the point.

BB's blues
King of the blues
etc...

Good idea, also adding 2-3 famous songs on the collab. topic from him could be helpful to get some vibe and reflect of his style.

We had with some time ago a collab named "Gary Moore tribute collaboration." I think because it will be a tribute collab, maybe keeping a similar name " BB King tribute collaboration" it will be more suitable. Also I like Rhida's ideas for the name. Let's see what other guys think about this collab wink.gif

Another idea it will be to build together an entire backing similar with "The thrill is gone". It would be easy for everybody to play over it. Also Kris voice can be a damn great add for this kind of collab.

I guess the best thing is to choose a backing from GMC or build together one. We don't use in GMC backing tracks from YT to avoid copyright problems. Even if are free on YT can appear problems if the author has another site where the backing tracks can be downloadable with money. It's much better for GMC to stay on the safe side wink.gif

I think that's a great idea.
We've got a bunch of bluesy GMC instructors, maybe they will even write a backing and make it an official collab?

Very sad day!! sad.gif sad.gif BB had an aura of positive energy around him... And wether we like it or not we are all VERY influenced by him, playing wise.

You can count me in, for such a collab!

Why don't you guys agree on a cool backing track (we have got so many great blues backing tracks, just check Stephane lucarelli, Ivan Milekonvic, Sinisa etc) and then open a thread where we can upload our takes?

yes kris

but , playin on only a bluesy bt or onto a BB's one ?

the interest is to do a tribute, not another blues cool piece

we can use this one per example, cause it's free to use

I'll leave the details up to you since this would be a member initiated collab. About copyrights: just be sure to use a public domain backing track. For user generated content the worse thing that can happen is that we get a complaint and have to remove the backing track from your thread (and it is very rare for us to get such complaints).

My 2 cents about the backing: I am no BB expert but to me he relied on what we today call standard blues progressions. So for example if you find a neat GMC slow blues backing, all we need to do is throw in some BB licks and we should be home.
