Been playing bass since: 2001

I got hooked on and fascinated by music as a kid, the moment I discovered my parent's old "Beatles" records. That's the time when my idea of playing an instrument and performing in a band was born. I went through a couple of instruments in the early days, starting with years of playing the guitar and just a bit of keyboards, until I found the one I liked the most - bass! I love the role of a bass guitar in a band, it gives the song its very soul. Over the years, I have found that playing just bass was not enough and I found myself going back to playing guitar more often. Being able to play guitar has also helped me when composing songs and getting ideas across. As a bass player, when I would compose a song I’d also add guitar tracks to put my ideas into context before working on them further or presenting them to bands in which my primary role was a bass player. Music has brought a lot of joy into my life through love, friendship, traveling and has made many of my dreams come true. I just love its never-ending force.

I like simplicity and enjoy listening to singer-songwriter songs where true power of guitar in it’s very basics comes across. Just strumming a few chords with a nice rhythm and emotional lyrics over it can go a long way! Also, I have noticed that one doesn’t need to be a virtuoso or extremely proficient in playing the guitar in order to start composing cool sounding songs and enjoy playing and music. In my opinion - one should just do his best with his current abilities and enjoy making/playing music in the present tense and don’t worry what he could do in the future. The music we make reflects who we are at that moment and it is so amazing that we actually get to capture that moment and let it live forever!

Playing and Influences
Like I said, The Beatles were the first (Paul McCartney), but I have listened to a lot of different musicians over the years. I am inspired by a good musician on any instrument. As for bass players - I love the melodic and funky style of Flea from RHCP, I also love the unique groove of Victor Wooten and the crazy slap style he has developed. Then there is Stu Hamm with his cool tapping tunes and solo bass stuff. Many times I find myself listening to songs and just isolating bass lines in my head. When it comes to guitar, I really enjoy songs which feature acoustic guitars in it. To my ears adding acoustic guitar even to full rock arrangements is like spraying the magic dust over the songs. I also like the place guitars still hold on to in pop music as well as atmospheric sound possibilities coming from usage of different effects pedals. If I’d single out guitarists that were great inspiration to me when starting, I’d like to mention Paco Di Lucia, John Lennon and Joe Satriani.

At GMC
I have always been fascinated by technology and the Internet, and it lead me to this amazing place. I feel very connected with all the students and instructors all over the world. GMC allows me to teach everyone, everywhere, and also helps me to learn new things and develop my playing and musicianship. I find the GMC way of teaching the most efficient through FUN song-like lessons packed with serious knowledge.

The goal I’m striving for with my guitar lessons is to help you get started as smoothly as possible in order to get to the “enjoyment” phase which will drive you further on its own in your development as a guitar player. At the very beginning, I was self thought and starting to play in the environment where no one could help me and I remember all my eureka moments I discovered for myself and remember some details or concepts which were alluding me for years. Through my lessons I’ll try to simplify and serve all these things to you based on my experience in, hopefully, easy to understand manner so that you can make faster progress and don’t get stuck.

I hope music will bring wonderful things into your life too!
Since you are reading this, you have probably already made a great choice, so grab an instrument and start practicing now.
