Artist: Explosions in the Sky Album: All of A Sudden I Miss Everyone Genre: Post rock Released: 2007 Tracks: 1. The Birth And Death of The Day 2. Welcome, Ghosts 3. It's Natural to be Afraid 4. What Do You Go Home To? 5. Catastrophe And The Cure 6. So Long, Lonesome So, this is the latest album by Explosions in the Sky, and, in my opinion, the best so far. I'll even say that it's one of my top 5 favourite records ever, but that's another story. The first track, The Birth And Death of The Day is my favourite track, it starts with a really dirty sounding guitar, and then the tremolo picking kicks in, and the feeling is there instantly. I don't get goose bumps a lot when listening to music, but it's unavoidable here. The song then builds up tension a lot, and then releases everything with that kind of energy that only can be done in post rock, and they do it perfectly. The rest of the record continues like this, with beautiful melodies, incredible feeling and a perfect "tightness" present all the time. This album is perfect for walking in the rain at nights, thats when I enjoy it the most for sure. With that being said, it's always good, no matter what. The lyrics are non existant, and that's how I want it to be, though, if I had to comment on the lyrics, I'd say they were just as they should be. The music speaks for itself. The guitar work is amazing, it's beautiful, but not overly technical. It's just spot on perfect for the songs. I don't want shred where I can have pure awesomeness. So yeah, get this record, even if you're new to post rock, or at least listen to the first song here. I'm not going to grade it, sorry. |
