Very good! Like the tone and the tune

Nice take OC,and that was just amazing!
Now I realized what you were talking about
when you mentioned problem with the tapping part.
So here's the deal, whole tapping part is in triplets,16th triplets tho.
And as far as I can hear you are "trying" to play 4 notes per half of beat, not 3.
Seems like you are adding one extra note with your ring finger
right before tapped note, not all the time, just here and there.
And that is why this part sounds a bit sloppy.
I don't believe you're doing it on purpose so all you have to do
is to think more about triplets, groups of 3,
tapped note, ring finger note and index finger note,
focus more on that and it'll be fine,I'm sure.
Keep up the good work, very good effort!

Thanks for the feedback.
I really struggled with the tapping section as I am pretty awful at tapping and I really need to practice it slow to a metronome as somewhere between slow and fast speeds I lose my technique and rhythm. I will certainly be working on this tapping section.

Very well done, great tone

Thanks a lot Marcus
I've been working on my tone more than anything. It's amazing that if you take a step back and play a lot slower and work on tone and accuracy you notice a huge improvement in your sound which you can then work in adding to more technical and fast segments.
I'm glad you liked my tone
Posted by: Marcus Siepen Oct 12 2008, 01:12 PM
Thats why it is always important to also practice slow, not just at lightspeed.

Since realising this fact I have improved considerably and now I can slowly up the speed along with a metronome

Realy cool OC!! You rock
The tone is very neat and your playing is as well. One tip: try using the uploads sections next time, ah well, I'm not an admin, so I maybe shouldn't be saying that
Nice OC!

Cheers kaz. I always thought the uploads thread was for uploads not connected with GMC lessons whereas this forum is GMC, Lessons and Practicing which is specifically for GMC lesson uploads and questions or am I wrong?
I'm not sure.

I've been trying to record video also but if you just play the backing on PC speakers and play over it through PC speakers it sounds awful after you record with webcam.
Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Oct 13 2008, 02:48 PM
It sounds great OC, you really nailed the technique and tone as well. It sounds very much like Muris tone. Some vibratos were a bit shaky, but all in all I think you did some great playing here mate. Well done

Thanks for that Ivan
I've been practicing guitar a lot more now and I'm having more enjoyment and I've found that I'm a lot happier with how I play.

Absolutely, mic on camera isn't the solution.
But you should try to record it separately,
audio in reaper(or in any software that you're using for audio)
and video on the camera of course,
then do syncing in Windows Movie Maker per example.
Most of the GMC instructors are recording lessons just like this.

I will give it a try. Is it fairly easy to do?

Cant tell for sure, depends of what software you're gonna use,
with Reaper and WMM it shouldn't be too hard.
Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Oct 13 2008, 03:49 PM
I use Sonar and probably WMM which shouldn't be too much different I guess.

I guess it'll work fine.
You might have some problems tho if that'd be your first attempt
to record video and audio this way.
But ask if you run into problems and we'll try to help in any way we can.

Cheers. I should be ok. I'm an Electronics Engineer and I can put all these devices I use together from scratch but don't know how to work them in the slightest

great take, waiting for the video

Yeah, editing and syncing might be the problem, pure software stuff,
we'll solve it for you tho if anything comes up.
