Greg uses this idea a lot in this song but @34 sec he really digs in. Its like a brooding evil tension for a moment. Any ideas on "Howe" he does it? Sounds like a Hendrix style double stop. I have another one from Howe that floored me the first time I heard it. from 42 thru the 57 second mark. Love that linear tapping! http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Mast..._Linear_Tapping PS: I thought I saw in another thread that you wanted to tackle a song on the album "Introspection." So I thought I would share this link with you for tabs and backings in case you weren't aware of it. http://www.greghowe.com/tablature.html This post has been edited by AK Rich: Sep 16 2014, 08:00 PM |

So I thought I would share this link with you for tabs and backings in case you weren't aware of it. http://www.greghowe.com/tablature.html Greg Howe changed my view on what was possible on guitar. At the time I heard yngwie and thought there was nothing like it. See I was very sheltered musically, Metallica Alice n chains pantera and malmsteen were the only bands I knew. Started to broaden my palette with Gilbert, Steve morse, Vinnie Moore and that's when Greg was introduced to me. There are 2 albums I can't listen too, IMO way too cock rock, but the instrumental albums I still can listen too. Thank you for the link, I bought the tab book years ago but could never play any of it! Probably still can't but I'm going to try. Here's another one by Guthrie Govan. Probably my favorite bend of all time, maybe.. Hah The bend comes around the 1:35 mark, but listen from 1:30 or so, he does some basic harmonics just right before he makes that awesome bend. One of my favorite songs back in the days, especially the solo part, always made me go what the freakity frack, did just happen? when I started out playing the guitar. The tap pick slide thing in the Rock You Like a Hurricane solo by Scorpions, starts around the 2:32 mark I don't really go 'OMG' as much anymore, listened to it way too much, but yeah it definitely had its precious moments in my life! Oh yes that is great bend, it sounds like a human screaming wrooowww. I like how nice the guitar sits in the mix, very upfront and clear. The scorpions was one of my first CDs I ever bought and I bought it because of that guitar solo! So much energy! Thanks for sharing those tunes. They're a great choise for this post. |

Here's how I heard it: Use the index to fret the A and D strings & the 3rd finger to hammer onto the 9th fret then slide it to the 10th. Use index / 3rd for the next two as well. You need to get 2 strings ringing at the same time to get that nice growl. Jump_Start_Lick.gp5 ( 1.65K ) Number of downloads: 64 This post has been edited by Ben Higgins: Sep 17 2014, 10:42 AM |
