Can anyone help me understand the diagrams in video lesson one, the one that teaches the power chords because these diagrams with the colorful little dots on em make no sense to me, thank you for your help...
Alain
yeah the same happens with me
i understand that all the notes are there mixed up but
what the hell is a root note ??? O.o
if you're talking about the scale diagrams, the root notes are the notes that define the scale, the scale's name is named after the root note and the roote notes are what "identifies" it or "gives it sound"
e|-----|
b|-----|
g|-----|
d|-----|
a|-5---|
e|-3---|
That is all you need to know. Not the dots. That above is a G5 power chord. The 3 means you play a note at the 3rd fret from the string at the top of the guitar and the 5th fret on the string below which is a fifth up from the root note which in this case is the 3rd fret which is a G. The 5th fret on the a string is a D and is a fifth up from G.
This pattern can be slid down any fret on the E string, a string or d string and the name of the power chord is always the rootnote(5) The rootnote being the red one above moved along.
