Pedja,

I burned my picking hand this weekend. I have a big blister on the tip of my index finger, and smaller ones on my thumb and the side of my middle finger. Those don't hurt too much, I can probably keep picking with them but the index finger is going to take a week at the least to heal I think. Perhaps with a bandage on it I can use it to pick. We'll see.

Anyway, this being the case, how do you think we should proceed with the assignment? I can probably fingerpick it using thumb, middle, ring and pinky but it will look and feel awkward, but it should work. I'll see in a day or two if I can hold a pick while wearing a bandage, if so maybe another assignment would be better? Or just using the pick instead of my fingers for the drop 3 chords.

Let me know what you think.

Joe,

Sorry to hear about your accident. It will be acceptable to play all the chords with pick in that case. You could also do every note in the chord independently if you fish, it is up to you. Let me know what you decide.

Pedja,

I will be able to hold a pick again tomorrow I think. I will do the lesson with the pick, and arpeggiated if you don't mind. Everything seems to be healing up well, hopefully the big blister on the index finger will pop soon and I should be back to normal.

Pedja,

I recorded the video for you. I decided to use my fingers on this, though I used thumb-middle-ring-pinky. It did not come out perfectly, but I think it will pass (ironically the error was in the left hand, not the burned one tongue.gif). I actually recorded a better video, but then my computer crashed before I could save it. Also again the audio is not well balanced, but I intend to re-record this video and the last few that had bad audio, and wait until then to submit them to the REC. I have to go now or I would record another take.

Hi Joe,

It looks like you took away the video. Just to let you know for next assignment I want you to keep working on next chord lesson in series. Let me know if you got any questions.

It doesn't work? It seems to be working on my end. Also, I did a lesson search for the next in the series but nothing is coming up :/

Hi Pedja,

I am going to see Iron Maiden today! biggrin.gif

But I'll be back tomorrow to begin work on the next assignment... here is the video for part 2, did you ever get part 1 to work? It still works for me, but as I said earlier I want to redo the last few videos when I get my amplifier back home. Right now it's stuck at my girlfriends house with a lot of my other stuff, I got into a car accident the other day and my vehicle is wrecked.

But at least I think I improved the audio balance over the last few!

Hi Joe,

Sorry for a bit latter response than usual. You did good with this lesson, volume is finally getting balanced a bit with backing track. In future assignments please work on other parts of those series!

Its okay, I will learn the rest of the drop 3 series. I'm going to try to do that and turn them in early, maybe then you can give me some more assignments? I would like to do something besides chord vocabulary after completing this series. Maybe some technique studies!

Great Joe! It will be good to focus on something else after you complete the series. In August we will focus purely on technique wink.gif

Pedja,

It's kind of strange, whenever I search for the drop 3 lessons I can't find them anywhere. They don't come up in the search, or under your profile's list of your lessons. I don't know where else to look.

Joe I just checked, part 3 and 4 of drop 3 lessons are not published yet sad.gif
Lets do some recording instead for remaining assingments.

One assignment is soloing over Ionian mode (we can do it from C) . Here is the chord progression !

//: C / F / G / C ://

Final assignment for July is soloing over Dorian mode (we can do it from C again). Here is the chord progression :

// C min / F / C min / F ://

Record some improvising over those! Before that make a backing track (just rhythm guitar playing chords will be fine).

Let me know if you got any questions!

Pedja

P.S. I hope they will make part 3 and 4 available for public soon smile.gif

Hi pedja,

I know I am probably being late with this, but I've been pretty busy between work and looking for a new car, I have the backings done for both assignments I just need to get the solo right. Going to try to get them in tonight or tomorrow for you, then we can do some technique!

I feel like my lead playing has been really bland lately, but my rhythm is a little better. I hope some technique focus will help out on both fronts, and maybe motivate me some more once again.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for this response!
I will give you assignments for technique rhythm and soloing but you need to hurry up and finish remaining assignments in July first. I can't open August thread for you unless you completed work in July first. I suggest you get on those solos asap and then I will give you some more work to motivate you in August.

Joe,
This was very cool! I liked your originality that came in those 2 assignments. Backing was interesting, it sounded like composition , it was not just lets record assignment, you tried to make something musical out of it. My final suggestion is to try it out more in future and see if you can create songs this way, it sounds very interesting!
I will close the thread now for GMC management purposes and will open a new one for you very soon. Hope that you will finish all the August assignments by 30th!
