HeHe....I didn't think it would surprise anyone either tongue.gif

But it was a very hard descision between him and Page....it could have gone either way really.

I can't decide between the two

Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden

Ok, many great guitarists were mentioned, my choise is Kai Hansen from the band gamma ray, i love Powermetal:

Posted by: at lights end Feb 21 2008, 12:44 PM

i forgot about Thomas Youngblood from kamelot, i love his solos.

Dimebag (RIP)

Posted by: Goliath Feb 21 2008, 01:56 PM

I'm a big fan of Laiho as well, but Sam and Herman make so many ridiculous noises, plus I love the energy they put into their music. If you see them live, you'll know what i mean.

I'm a big fan of Dave Mustaine as well for being kind of a jack of all trades, really strong rhythm player, not a bad lead player.

Also, I'm a big fan of this guy:

James Hetfield used to have punishing rhythm licks.

Posted by: SLASH91 Feb 21 2008, 05:52 PM

Had to add a couple more tongue.gif

Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth

Yngwie Malmsteen (prepares to be flamed ph34r.gif )

The Black Halo is great as well! But i think all of their albums are great, kamelot is one of my most favorite bands. It seems at GMC there are a lot of people with good musical taste wink.gif

At least I've got one person on my side tongue.gif

As far as he goes though, I actually find his arrogance quite hillarious. I remember hearing about one time where he was up on stage and broke out into Eruption by Van Halen. Halfway through he just stopped, looked at the audience, yawned, and started playing some light speed solo of his own. ohmy.gif laugh.gif

I think it's more that people have a very wide range of tastes because to become the best guitarist you can be you need to understand and appreciate the good aspects of all kinds of music. smile.gif
